> All users must receive training, must acquire the competences of appropriate tech-
niques, and must read the technical notices beforehand.
> Check that the stopper knots at the loose end of the rope are in a good state.
> Activities that involve working at height expose the user to dangers that can cause severe
injuries or death.
> You agree to personally take responsibility for all risks of damage, injury or death that
can occur following the incorrect use of the equipment, regardless of the form. If you
cannot take this responsibility, do not use this device.
The equipment should not be used beyond its limits, nor in any other situation than its
intended use.
PART NOMENCLATURE: idem Chapter 1 EN 12 841:2006 and
INSPECTIONS, CHECKING POINTS: idem Chapter 1 EN 12 841:2006
COMPATIBILITY
The attachment on the anchor point and on the LOV3 device should be performed uniquely
by aluminum alloy locking connectors compliant with EN 362.
The rope must be a Cousin rope compliant with EN 1891:1998 Class A Ø10.5mm ref. 1425
with manufactured locked stopper knots from TAZ.
The transported person will be tied on the rope by a system that meets good practice re-
quirements, rules and regulations afferent to rescue activities, in compliance with EN 362
regarding connectors, and in compliance with EN 1497 and EN 1498 regarding slings or
harnesses.
WORKING PRINCIPLE: idem Chapter 1 EN 12 841:2006
WARNING:
Pressing on the handle without controlling the free rope is dangerous.
It is mandatory to practice using the handle release for braking/locking purposes.
SETTING UP THE ROPE :
Used on an anchoring point above, the attachment point must be positioned above. Open
the mobile plate and insert the rope.
The loaded rope comes out of the device at the top to then descend to the person. The free
rope comes out at the bottom of the device. Close the mobile plate. The free rope goes up
through the friction connector (mandatory).
In case of a lower anchor point (on the ground), the traction is achieved upwards or diago-
nally; e.g., towards a redirecting pulley, the set-up must be reversed.
WARNING :
Thoroughly check that the mobile plate is closed, as per instructions in
Chapter 1.

ANCHORS:
The anchoring of the system must meet good practice requirements, rules and regulations
afferent to rescue activities and EN 795 standard. Be aware not to worry the descent by
connection system
OPERATIONAL TEST
For each use, the user must test the locking effect of the LOV3 device.
If the device does not lock, do not use it. Contact the manufacturer TAZ.
The operation of the device is optimal when the usage conditions are normal, with low
humidity, average temperature (5°C to 25°C), away from sources of dust and grease. When
conditions are not favourable (extreme heat, rain, frost, dust, grease, etc.), there is a risk

of losing the control while descending, or of damaging the rope. Additional precautions
(speed reduction, building several anchors for the descent, etc.) should be taken.
p. 23.
OPERATION:
Descending: once the operational tests are complete, hold the free rope coming out of
the device with one hand, and open and pull the handle of the LOV3 device with the other
hand. The desired speed will be attained by adjusting the traction on the handle, and by
braking with the other hand on the free rope coming out of the device.
Do not exceed a speed of 1m/s, otherwise the stainless steel of the sheaves can overheat
and alter the friction, and therefore the locking effect. The user could lose the control or
damage the rope.
Always hold and brake on the free rope coming out of the device
performing manoeuvres and movements.
When overgripping the open handle, the user cancels the braking effect of the LOV3 de-
vice. It is essential to practice releasing the handle.
