XE 1 Radio receiver
The XE 1 radio receiver switches connected fans
on or off, when it receives a previously learnt
radio signal. The receiver can learn up to 14 radio
channels (frequencies). MAICO accepts no lia-
bility for damages caused by non-authorised use.
Safety instructions
Assembly, electrical connection work and
repairs should only be carried out by
qualified electricians.
During electrical installation and assembly,
ensure compliance with the corresponding
directives, in particular the pertinent sections
of DIN VDE 0100.
The switch may only be connected to a per-
manent electrical installation (max. 1.5 mm²).
If the receiver is not being installed in a
recessed-mounted box, steps must be taken
to ensure that it is sufficiently protected against
accidental contact, by installing it in a surface-
mounted distributor box, for example.
Make sure all power sources are completely
disconnected before starting work on the
electrical connections. This should include
removing the main fuse and posting warning
signs advising not to re-apply power.
Please give these instructions to the customer
after completing installation.
The radio receiver is designed in accordance
with VDE safety requirements in the framework
of the equipment safety laws as well as the per-
tinent regulations laid down in the EU Guidelines.
Radio transmission
Radio transmission is carried out over a non-
exclusive transmission path. The possibility of
interference cannot be ruled out. Radio
transmission is not suitable for the switching
of safety equipment, such as emergency
cut-out switches or emergency alarm call
equipment.
In a clear area, the transmission range of the
radio switch is a maximum of 100 metres. This
is, however, dependant on the construction
environment of the object in question and as a
rule, is less than this:
Dry material
Wood, plaster, plasterboard
Bricks, chipboard
Reinforced concrete
Metal, metal grille,
aluminium lamination
Installation
The radio receiver is installed in a recessed- or
surface-mounted box, to be supplied by the
customer.
In order to achieve maximum reception
performance, install the antenna if possible
remote from the receiver, fully extended and
away from any large metal surfaces, such as
door frames, etc. Under no circumstances
should the antenna be bent, uninsulated,
shortened or lengthened.
Electrical connection
Wire up radio receiver according to circuit diagram.
Black wire = Phase „L", 230 V ~
Blue wire = Neutral „N"
Brown wire (2x) = Contact element „µ"
Connect the fan to the connections „BN"
(functional extra-low voltage „FELV", 230 V ~ ).
The contact element „BN" is separated from the
phase by functional insulation within the unit.
Penetration
approx. 90%
approx. 70%
approx. 30%
approx. 10%
Please note:
Under no circumstances should different
phases (L1, L2, L3) be switched.
Do not contact any safety extra-low voltage
„SELV" to the contact element „BN".
Please take the maximum value of the switched
electrical load into account:
– Ohmic load with max. 4 A/230 V ~
– Inductive load with max. 2 A/230 V ~
Maintain a distance of at least 0.5 metres from
any devices that might cause electrical interfe-
rence such as a microwave oven or hifi equipment.
Maintain a distance of at least 1 metre between
the radio receiver and the radio transmitter in
order to avoid any overloads.
