IEC Socket/Mains Fuse
The IEC socket is for connection to universally used IEC mains leads to connect to appropriate
domestic mains supply.
In the event of having to replace the mains fuse always use the same rating and type as
marked on the unit's rear panel. Using one of higher rating will invalidate the guarantee.
If after replacement the mains fuse should blow a second time, immediately refer the unit to a
TRACE ELLIOT approved service engineer for checking.
Using Different Valves
Looking at the VELOCETTE SE from the rear with the rear panel removed you will see three
valves, the two on the left (V1 and V2) will be factory fitted with ECC83/12AX7's and the one
on the right (V3) will be an EL34.
As mentioned before the design of this unit allows the use of other types of valve in these
three positions.
Positions V1 and V2 (preamp) will accept the following:-
ECC83/12AX7
ECC82/12AU7
ECC81/12AT7
These can be used in either position in any combination to achieve different tones from the
amplifier. We tried all the permutations and found the following results. (These were done
using a 'double cutaway, 3 pickup guitar' fitted with 2 single coils and 1 humbucker.)
