If the battery to be recharged is of type WET, proceed as follows:
-
Remove the battery caps, if fitted, so that the gases produced during charging can escape. Check that
the electrolyte level covers the plates of the batteries; if they are exposed, add distilled water until they
are about 5/10mm submerged.
ATTENTION: Use extreme caution during this operation as the electrolyte is a highly corrosive acid.
BATTERY CHARGER CONNECTION
•
Check that the power cord is disconnected from the wall outlet.
•
For models with multiple load voltages, position the front derailleur or switch according to the selected load
voltage. In the absence of a diverter or switch, connect the cable with the red load clamp (+ symbol) to the
specific terminal of the battery charger in accordance with the selected output voltage.
•
Connect the red charging clamp to the positive battery terminal (+ symbol). If the symbols are not distinguishable,
remember that the positive terminal is the one that is not connected to the vehicle chassis.
•
Connect the black charging clamp to the vehicle chassis, away from the battery and fuel line.
NOTE: If the battery is not installed in a vehicle and you want to use the BOOST function, connect
directly to the negative battery terminal (- symbol).
MANUAL LOADING
NOTE: The values in Ah, if indicated next to the buttons, are purely indicative (as the charging
process depends on the state of discharge of the battery) and suggest the position to charge an
initially discharged battery with a capacity included in the indicated interval, in a maximum time
of 15h. It is not advisable to work below the minimum values indicated.
Recommended mode for batteries with lead and free electrolyte (WET).
•
Apply the above instructions correctly.
•
If present, switch the derailleur to the BATTERY symbol.
•
Set the derailleur(s) or load regulation switch (if present) to the normal load (CHARGE+SLOW) or fast load
(CHARGE+FAST) position as desired (on some models the switch also has the function of a power switch).
•
Power the battery charger by inserting the power cord into the mains socket and turning the switch ON (if
present).
NOTE: When the WET battery is charged, you may also notice a "boiling" principle of the liquid
contained in it. It is advisable to interrupt charging at the beginning of this phenomenon to avoid
oxidation of the plate and to keep the battery in good condition.
