instruction manual
• Never use the appliance in humid rooms.
• Place the appliance on a stable, flat, heat-resistant and splash-proof surface
where it cannot fall.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the draining board, worktop
or table.
• Make sure that your hands are dry when you touch the appliance, the power
cord or the plug.
• Do not touch the appliance if it has fallen into water. Remove the plug from
the wall socket immediately. Do not use the appliance any more.
• Make sure that the appliance has sufficient ventilation whilst in use.
• Never move the appliance when it is switched on or is still hot. Switch off the
appliance and wait until it has cooled down before moving it.
• Do not place the appliance too close to kitchen cupboards and walls covered
in wallpaper. The hot steam may cause damage.
• Be careful when opening the lid during use. The hot steam can cause burns.
• Clean the appliance thoroughly after use (see "Cleaning & maintenance").
• Never immerse the appliance, the cord or the plug in water or any other
fluid.
• This appliance may not be used through an external timer or by means of a
remote control.
• Be extremely careful, as oil or fat preparations might catch fire when
overheated.
• When using the appliance under an extractor hood, make sure to observe
the minimal distance advised by the producer of the extractor hood. It is
even wiser to double this distance.
• Only use the appliance for food which is supposed to be cooked.
• The invisible protective coating must be removed before you can use the
appliance for the first time. To do this, set the controls to the maximum
setting and leave switched on for approximately 10 minutes. Smoke will
develop; make sure that the room is ventilated. Switch off the cooking plate
and allow to cool down completely. The cooking plate is now ready for use.
• Always use flat-bottomed saucepans which make good contact with the
cooking plate. The saucepan bases should ideally be of the same size as
the cooking plate.
