• If you have a network or system administrator who is responsible for your network
(such as in a larger company), allow him or her carry out the connection and driver
installation; do not install the product yourself.
• The maximum theoretical data transfer rates (10/100/1000 MBit) are never achieved
in practical operation. This is due to the communication method used, transmission
errors, other devices on the network etc.
• With Windows, it might take some time until the PCs appear on the network.
When you turn on the computer and Windows is loaded on all computers after a few
seconds, you usually cannot access another computer right away.
If, after a few minutes, it is still not possible to access other PCs, check any firewall
and/or virus scanner settings that may be used.
Naturally, the access permissions also have to be set accordingly, if you are using
an operating system that offers such features.
Consult the applicable operating instructions, when using a network printer or other
devices in the network.
There are numerous causes explaining why a network connection is not successful.
Please refer to the appropriate specialist literature or to a specialist technician.
• The media converter is set to the static IP address 192.168.2.1 at the factory (user-
name "admin," password "admin"; enter each without quotation marks).
To configure and adapt the media converter to the existing network, therefore, you
normally need to adjust it first through an individual computer before it is connected
to and operated on the desired position in the network.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product is maintenance-free. Repair or maintenance work must be carried out
by a specialist.
You can use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Dust can be very easily removed with
a soft, clean brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use aggressive, chemical or scouring cleaning agents, as this may lead to dis-
colouration or changes in the material on the surface.
Disposal
The product must not be disposed of in the household waste.
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life in accordance with
the current statutory requirements; e.g., return it to any suitable collection
point.
