4 Handling and Use
The parallel bars can be used for therapy to improve strength, mobility, endurance or co-ordination. We
direct you to the therapy guides and reference books published on these matters.
• Adjust the height of the support bars of the parallel bars according to the anatomy of the patient.
He/she should be able to hold the bars with slightly flexed arms.
Always make sure that the therapist is able to support the patient in case he might fall. To achieve this
the therapist should be standing / walking behind patient. The therapist should stabilise himself with
one hand on the support bar, and support the patient with his other hand. Walk non-synchronised
with the patient so you always stand firm when the patient is moving. In case the patient is to heavy to
be supported by one therapist, make sure that extra persons are involved to assure safe support.
