Note
Note: If your hob is larger than the espresso
maker, you don't have to worry. With a ceramic
hob, only about half is covered, which is not
a problem. It makes no difference as regards
making the coffee. Just watch that the handle of
the pot does not become too hot and you don't
burn yourself. Here the best thing to do is to place
the espresso maker on the edge of the plate and
let the handle jut outward.
3. Cleaning your espresso maker
It is recommended that you clean the espresso maker
by hand, as many dishwasher cleaners contain corrosive
agents that can damage the material it is made from.
1. Rinsing: Disassemble the espresso maker after
every use and rinse everything with clear water.
Detergents here are an absolute no-go, as the
chemicals can alter the taste of the coffee.
2. Drying: Dry each part with a hand towel, except
for the upper part of the pot. Precious coffee
oils gather here, which you should keep at all
costs. Then allow all three parts to completely dry
separately, to avoid unpleasant odours.
3. Reassembling: When everything has dried, you can
simply put your espresso maker back together again
and look forward to your next taste experience.
General cleaning is recommended every two to
three weeks (depending on how often you use the
espresso maker). This may sound arduous, but will
significantly extend the life of your coffee maker.
It involves cleaning everything as usual, but also
wiping the coffee oils from the upper part of the pot.
In addition, remove the seal ring and metal filter, and
clean them thoroughly. Allow everything to dry well.
Then you can put the espresso maker back together
again. The result is an espresso maker that is as
lovely and shiny as when you first unpacked it.
Even though you may have only used the espresso
maker a few times, it can happen that the lower part
becomes tarnished (due to very fast heating, very
high temperature differences, etc.) Don't let this spoil
your enjoyment! Tarnishing of the espresso maker is
quite normal!
You can normally remove the blue, rainbow-coloured
streaks very easily with a descaler or some vinegar.
Here I would recommend the Xavax Premium
Descaler for high-quality coffee machines. It allows
easy and effective cleaning, and makes everything
spotless again.
Golden, grey and black discolourations due to
overheating are more stubborn, unfortunately. In
addition to descaling solution, they may also require
citric concentrate and polishing paste. On no account
use cleaning agents that are too aggressive!
