Installation & Maintenance Information
APPLICATION
VDAS Series enclosed and gasketed strobe lights are designed to
provide a powerful, eye-catching strobe flash in industrial environments
and other areas where audible signals cannot be heard.
VDAS Series strobe light luminaires are suitable for use in the following
hazardous (classified) areas as defined by the National Electrical Code
(NEC®) and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
• Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D; Class I Zone 2 IIC
• Class II Division 2 Groups E, F, G; Class III
To avoid the risk of fire, explosion, or electric shock, this
product should be installed, inspected, and maintained by a
qualified electrician only, in accordance with all applicable electrical
codes.
To avoid electric shock:
Be certain electrical power is OFF before and during installation and
maintenance. High voltages are present inside luminaire assembly.
Wait at least 5 minutes after shutting off power before attempting to
service the unit.
Luminaire must be supplied by a wiring system with an equipment
grounding conductor.
To avoid burning hands:
Make sure globe (refractor, lens, etc) and lamp are cool when
performing maintenance.

amber, blue, green and red fresnal globes are available.
To avoid explosion:
Make sure the supply voltage is the same as the luminaire
voltage.
Do not install where the marked operating temperatures exceed the
ignition temperature of the hazardous atmosphere.
Do not operate in ambient temperatures above those indicated on the
luminaire nameplate.
Use only Cooper Crouse-Hinds authorized replacement parts as
identified in the REPLACEMENT PARTS section of this Installation
and Maintenance document.
Use proper supply wiring as specified on the luminaire nameplate.
All gasket seals must be clean.
