    Never use the charger if it is damaged in any manner. If the charger, the cord or the plug is damaged, always have the charger replaced with one of the original type in order to avoid a hazard. Do not use the charger outdoors or near heated surfaces. Do not use the toothbrush in the bath or shower. If you have had oral or gum surgery in the previous 2 months, consult your dentist before you use the toothbrush. Consult your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs after using this toothbrush or if bleeding continues to occur after 1 week of use. The Sonicare toothbrush complies with the safety standards for electromagnetic devices. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, consult your doctor or the manufacturer of the implanted device if you have any questions about using the Sonicare. This appliance has only been designed for cleaning teeth, gums and tongue. Do not use it for any other purpose. Stop using the appliance and contact your doctor if you experience any discomfort or pain. The Sonicare toothbrush is a personal care device and is not intended for use on multiple patients in a dental practice or institution. If the appliance is damaged in any way (brush head, toothbrush handle, charger), stop using it.

Remove the travel cap from the brush head before you start to brush. charging Charge the Sonicare for at least 24 hours during the first few days of use. We advise you to keep the Sonicare in the plugged-in charger when not in use to maintain a full battery charge. When the battery is empty, it takes at least 24 hours to fully charge the Sonicare.

The handles of other Sonicare models do not fit in this charger and will therefore not charge effectively. Do not attempt to force a handle into this charger, as this causes damage. Battery-low indicator When the battery runs low, you hear 3 beeps after the Smartimer has switched off the toothbrush. In addition, the bottom LED flashes yellow for 30 seconds. When you see and hear the battery-low indication, 3 or fewer 2-minute brushings remain. Keep the Sonicare in the plugged-in charger when not in use to maintain a full battery charge. Tips for specific oral care needs Stain removal For even better stain removal, dedicate a few seconds of extra brushing time to areas where excess staining occurs.

Use of the Easy-start feature beyond the initial ramp-up period is not recommended and reduces the effectiveness of the Sonicare toothbrush in removing plaque. Make sure the Easy-start feature is deactivated and the handle fully charged when the Sonicare is used in clinical trials. Smartimer This Sonicare model comes with the Smartimer feature, which automatically sets the brushing time to the 2 minutes that dentists and dental hygienists recommend.
  • Page 9 EngliSh Quadpacer® The Quadpacer 30-second interval timer ensures that you brush all sections of your mouth evenly and thoroughly. At 30, 60 and 90 seconds, you hear a short beep and notice a pause in brushing action. These signals tell you to continue with the next section of your mouth. Programmable Quadpacer (specific types only) The Programmable Quadpacer allows you to customise the Quadpacer in 1 of 3 ways: You may choose to keep the default setting of a 2-minute brushing time with the Quadpacer activated. You may choose to extend the brushing time by 30 seconds to 2.5 minutes with the Quadpacer activated. You may choose a 2-minute brushing time with the Quadpacer deactivated. To change the Quadpacer setting: Place the handle in the plugged-in charger. Press the Dual Speed Control button briefly and note which LED lights up Press and hold the Dual Speed Control button. Continue to hold the button while the LEDs slowly cycle through the Quadpacer settings: The fourth LED burns green: the 2-minute Quadpacer is active (default setting). Each time you switch on the Sonicare, it starts to brush at the normal speed setting. To switch from normal to reduced speed, press the Dual Speed Control button once during brushing. To switch from reduced to normal speed, press the Dual Speed Control button a second time during brushing.

Gebruik dit apparaat uitsluitend met de door de fabrikant aanbevolen opzetborstels. Kinderen jonger dan 10 jaar en mensen met een lichamelijke handicap mogen dit apparaat alleen onder toezicht gebruiken. Als uw tandpasta peroxide dan wel zuiveringszout of natriumbicarbonaat bevat (veelvoorkomend in witmakende tandpasta’s) dient u de opzetborstel na ieder gebruik grondig schoon te maken met zeep en water. Elektromagnetische velden (EMV) Dit Philips-apparaat voldoet aan alle richtlijnen met betrekking tot elektromagnetische velden (EMV). Mits het apparaat op de juiste wijze en volgens de instructies in deze gebruiksaanwijzing wordt gebruikt, is het veilig te gebruiken volgens het nu beschikbare wetenschappelijke bewijs.
  • Page 50 De opzetborstel is voorzien van een handig beschermkapje. Verwijder het beschermkapje voordat u de Sonicare inschakelt. Spoel de borstel en de borstelharen na iedere poetsbeurt onder de kraan af. Maak de opzetborstel iedere week schoon, ook onder de schroefrand. Met een volledig opgeladen Sonicare kunt u ongeveer 2 weken lang twee keer per dag 2 minuten tandenpoetsen zonder het apparaat op te hoeven laden. Hierdoor kunt u de Sonicare gemakkelijk zonder oplader mee op reis nemen. Het gebruik van een spanningomvormer of verloopstekker garandeert niet dat de oplader wordt voorzien van de juiste netspanning. Controleer altijd of het voltage klopt.
  • Page 51 Poetstechniek Voer de volgende eenvoudige stappen uit om uw poetservaring te maximaliseren. Plaats, voordat u de Sonicare inschakelt, de borstelharen onder een hoek van 45 graden op de tandvleesrand. 45º 45º Houd het handvat losjes vast en schakel de Sonicare in. Maak zachtjes ronddraaiende bewegingen met de borstel zodat de langere haren tussen de tanden komen. Beweeg de borstel na enkele seconden naar het volgende gedeelte van het gebit. Ga zo door totdat u de volledige poetsbeurt van  minuten hebt voltooid.
  • Page 52 Deze Sonicare-tandenborstel wordt geleverd met de Easy-start-functie ingeschakeld. Deze functie is bedoeld om u te laten wennen aan het tandenpoetsen met de Sonicare. De poetskracht neemt bij iedere poetsbeurt iets toe totdat de Sonicare bij de 14e poetsbeurt de optimale poetskracht bereikt. Als u direct na het inschakelen van de Sonicare 2 piepjes hoort, dan is de Easy-start-functie ingeschakeld. Zodra de optimale poetskracht is bereikt (na de 14e poetsbeurt), hoort u de 2 piepjes niet meer. Opmerking: De eerste 14 poetsbeurten moeten allemaal minimaal 1 minuut duren om de Easy-start-functie goed te laten werken. Opmerking: Wanneer de Easy-start-functie is ingeschakeld, werkt de snelheidsknop (voor normale en verlaagde snelheid) niet.

Quadpacer® De Quadpacer is een timer die ervoor zorgt dat u alle kwadranten van de mond gelijkmatig en grondig poetst. Na 30, 60 en 90 seconden hoort u een kort piepje en voelt u een kleine onderbreking in de poetsbeweging van het apparaat. Dit is voor u het signaal om de tandenborstel naar het volgende kwadrant te brengen. Programmeerbare Quadpacer (alleen bij bepaalde typen) Met de programmeerbare Quadpacer kunt u de werking van de Quadpacer op 3 manieren instellen: Een poetscyclus van 2 minuten waarbij de Quadpacer actief is (fabrieksinstelling). Verlenging van de totale poetstijd met 30 seconden tot 2,5 minuut waarbij de Quadpacer actief is. Een poetscyclus van 2 minuten waarbij de Quadpacer niet actief is. De instelling van de Quadpacer wijzigen: Plaats het handvat in de oplader en steek de stekker van de oplader in het stopcontact.

Droog de oplader na het schoonmaken volledig af voordat u de stekker weer in het stopcontact steekt. Gebruik een zacht schoonmaakmiddel, wat water en een vochtige doek om de Sonicare schoon te maken. opbergen Als u het apparaat langere tijd niet gaat gebruiken, trek dan de stekker uit het stopcontact, maak het apparaat schoon en bewaar het op een koele en droge plaats uit direct zonlicht. Het snoer kunt u opbergen door dit rond snoeropberghaken in de onderzijde van de oplader te wikkelen.

Neem de tandenborstel uit de oplader, schakel de tandenborstel in en laat de tandenborstel werken totdat deze stopt. Blijf de Sonicare inschakelen tot de accu volledig leeg is. Verwijder de schroefrand van de opzetborstel en plaats de schroefrand op het handvat. Draai de schroefrand op het handvat (A) totdat de behuizing openspringt en trek dan de schroefrand (B) naar voren. De onderdelen in het handvat komen samen met de schroefrand naar buiten Steek een schroevendraaier tussen de printplaat en het plastic gedeelte aan ieder uiteinde van de accu.
