Infrared Motion Detector
These instructions are intended for installers
with the corresponding technical knowledge.
Please read the instructions carefully prior to
operation and keep them for later reference.
The motion detector is shown on page 2.
1 Applications
The PIR (passive infrared) motion detector
SMILE-19 with microprocessor control has
specially been designed for applications in
alarm and video surveillance systems. When
motion is detected, the NC (normally closed)
alarm contact will open for 1 second. As a
precaution, the motion detector is provided
with an anti-tamper contact (6) which will trig-
ger an alarm via the alarm control panel when
the housing is opened.
2 Important Notes
The motion detector corresponds to all rele-
vant directives of the EU and is therefore
marked with
G
The motion detector is suitable for indoor
use only. Protect it against dripping water
and splash water, high air humidity and
heat (admissible ambient temperature
range: -10 to +40 °C).
G
Never touch the surface of the IR sensor
(10) when the housing is open; the sensor
may be damaged.
G
For cleaning the motion detector only use a
dry, soft cloth; never use water or chemi-
cals.
G
No guarantee claims for the motion detec-
tor and no liability for any resulting personal
damage or material damage will be ac-
cepted if the motion detector is used for

.
other purposes than originally intended, if it
is not correctly installed, or if it not repaired
in an expert way.
If the motion detector is to be put out
of operation definitively, take it to a
local recycling plant for a disposal
which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.
3 Installation
3.1 Installing the motion detector
G
The installation height should be approx.
2 m.
G
Do not install the motion detector in places
where it is exposed to vibrations, draughts
or direct sunlight or where it is close to
heat sources (e. g. radiators).
G
Find a place of installation where an alarm
will be triggered when a person moves at
right angles to the lens (2).
1) Open the housing. To unlock the cover,
insert a screwdriver into the hole (3) at the
bottom of the housing.
2) The motion detector can be installed flat
on a wall or in a corner or alternatively via
the movable support SN-1 available as ac-
cessory. Drill through the blind mounting
holes on the rear of the housing. For ac-
cess to these holes, remove the PCB
[carefully push the latch (5) upwards].
3) Drill through the blind hole (4) for the con-
nection cables. Lead the cables through
the hole and, if necessary, though the sup-
port into the housing. Fasten the rear side
of the housing to the support or to a wall.
4) Reinsert and lock the PCB.
