Preparations
Step 1. Proper Electrical Supply
230V, 50 Hz models
o 15-Amp dedicated single phase circuit. Additional
appliances on the same circuit may cause the current to
exceed the rating of the circuit breaker or fuse.
o Frequency must agree with the serial tag rating.
Improper frequency will damage the compressor.
Step 2. Vacuum Pump Requirements
For aqueous samples
o 90 liters per minute free flow rate (5,2 m
o 0,002 mBar ultimate vacuum
For volatile solvent samples
o 42 liters per minute (8,6 m
o 200 mBar ultimate vacuum is adequate
o PTFE
Plug Requirements on vacuum pump power cord
o 230V models - reverse IEC plug
Hose barb connection to fit 13mm (0.5 inch) inside diameter
vacuum hose
Step 3. Vacuum Trap Requirements
When using a mechanical pump that is not corrosion resistant,
the CentriVap Cold Trap or equivalent trap must be used in the
vacuum line to prevent damage from solvent vapors. When
evaporating acids, it is advisable to include a soda lime acid
secondary trap in the vacuum line. This adds additional
protection for the pump
