Muting the microphone
15. To talk without your caller hearing you, press the mute button (VII) on the
remote unit. You are still able to hear your caller. When the microphone is
muted, you will hear a signal every 15 seconds in your headset (see Technical
Data).
Answering calls with the remote unit
16. When you are not at your desk, you can answer incoming calls with the remote
unit, if you have installed the GN 1000 RHL supplied by GN Netcom on your
telephone.
17. When you receive an incoming call, the remote unit will buzz and the GN 1000
RHL sends a ring tone to your headset (see Technical Data). Press the red link
button (VIII) on the remote unit. The GN 1000 RHL will lift the handset from
your telephone and connect your call. To hang up, press the link button (VIII)
again.
Headset/handset switch
18. You can switch between headset and handset by pressing the link button (VIII)
on the remote unit. The on-line indicators (III and V) will light up when the
system is in headset mode and turn off when in handset mode.
Adjusting the buzzer setting
19. You can choose between four different buzzer settings:
1 Max volume
2 Medium volume
3 Minimum volume
4 Buzzer muted
To adjust the buzzer, the system must be in handset mode (see step 18).
Press simultaneously the upper and lower part of the volume button (VI) and the mute button (VII) at the
same time to enter buzzer setting mode. The on-line indicator on the remote unit will light up. Press the
upper or lower part of the volume button (VI) to go trough the four available buzzer settings. To leave the
buzzer setting mode, stop pressing the buttons when the desired setting has been reached. Within 5 sec-
onds, the setting will be stored and the on-line indicator will switch off.
Making or receiving calls with the GN Ellipse
To fully experience the freedom of a cordless headset, remove the remote unit from the base unit and
clip it to your belt or put it in your pocket. You can now move freely up to 150 meters away from the
base unit, depending on the environment in your office building. If you move out of transmission range,
GN Ellipse lets you know by means of a signal every 10 seconds in your headset (see Technical Data).
Using GN Ellipse
Follow this instruction if you do not have a GN 1000 RHL.
