Install the saw chain on the chain guide in such a manner that
the entire length of the chain is in contact with the chain guide
and forms a loop at the slotted end of the bar.
Insert the chain guide with the chain into the machine from
below, and fit the loop into the chain pinion. Make sure that the
teeth of the chain pinion mesh with the saw chain correctly.
Adjust the guide groove of the chain guide at the receiving tab
and hold the bar in position. Set the tension flange (25) – the
four lugs facing down – into the guide groove of the bar. Insert
clamping screw (7) and tighten lightly by hand.
Now you can re-insert the tension screw (23) and tighten it.
Make sure the washer (21) is inserted.
Now adjust the chain tension (as previously described) and
tighten the clamping screw (7) with the Allen wrench.
Every new chain should be broken in – as previously
described!
It is a good idea to change the chain guard from time to time.
This allows you to achieve uniform wear of the chain guide.
This also protects the chain from premature wear.
When installing the chain, please note the direction of
rotation!
Recoil (kick back):
The shape of the splitting wedge (5) largely excludes the
danger of the saw kicking back.
The DUO saw is ideally protected against recoil by the
safety splitting wedge with tip protection. Therefore, never
remove the splitting wedge (5). You would place yourself in
serious danger!
The cutting edges of the saw chain also have projecting depth
limiters which help to lessen the the danger of kick backs.
Make sure you have a safe place to stand, hold the saw
with both hands, make sure your work area is clean and
pay attention to our safety notes!
Work notes:
– Always set saw plate on workpiece.
– Always switch the machine on before the chain touhes the
wood.
– Cut into the wood slowly and saw using only light pressure.
The saw chain must work by itself so to speak. The chain
speed should not become noticably (audibly) slower.
Every cutter has a so-called depth limiter, i.e. even under
great pressure, the machine will not remove a thicker cut. You
actually achieve the opposite of what you want: You saw
"more slowly" because the friction between the chain guide,
saw chain and wood is greater and the chain speed is
reduced and the cutting rate is lessened.
– After long periods of intense sawing, the saw should be
allowed to idle without a load on it for a short time (cooling
effect).
Maintenance and care:
You should test your chain saw before you use it:
– Does the chain lubrication work? This is especially important
if the chain saw has not been used for a long period of time.
– Is the chain tension correct?
– Is the chain guide worn or damaged?
– Does the chain pinion already show signs of wear?
– Is the power cable of the drive machine damaged?
Damaged power cables must be replaced immediately!
The following maintenance procedures should be carried
out if necessary:
– Clean chain oil tank (flush with raw alchohol but never
nitro-thinner, gasoline, trichlorethylene, ammonia or
other agressive chemicals).
Avoid open flame!
– Sharpen saw chain (if the saw demands greater cutting
pressure or if only a few small chips are removed, this is
a sign of a dull chain). Observe the instructions included
with the sharpening tools.
– Replace saw chain (for damages which cannot be
repaired by filing).
– Clean chain guide (if the chain lubrication does not
work).
– Reverse chain guide (after every time the chain is
replaced or sharpened).
– Replace chain guide (if the guide groove has become
damaged or worn and the saw chain has too much
lateral play).
– Replace chain pinion (if it shows signs of heavy wear).
– Tighten accessible screws.
