LOADING FASTENERS
1. Pull back to slide open the magazine cover (FS200b-33a) until it clicks to lock it
open
2. Insert a stick of staples –up to 80 pieces
3. Push slide cover forward until it clicks to lock it closed.
4. The tool is ready to operate.
USING THE TOOL
1. Complete all the steps in Preparing the Tool and Loading Fasteners, above,
before using the tool.
NOTE: Use care when installing pre-finished flooring with this tool. It is designed
to install unfinished flooring and may leave marks on the finish of pre-finished
flooring. Always test fire the FS200 on a sample piece of flooring before start-
ing a new job to ensure it does not damage the floor finish.
2. Connect the tool with the air supply. Make sure the air pressure is within the
range given in Specifications above.
i.
The depth to which a staple is driven is determined by the supplied air
pressure.
ii.
Test fire a staple into a sample of the material you will be working on
and check depth.
iii. If a change is desired, adjust the regulator to supply air at a higher or
lower pressure.
iv. Test fire another fastener and check depth again.
v.
Adjust as necessary.
3. Tightly set a piece flooring into position.
4. Position the tool against the edge of the flooring where you want the staple
driven.
5. Hold the handle (FS200b-48 ARM in the parts list) firmly with one hand, while
swinging the mallet with the other.
6. Strike the trigger button (FS200b-10 HAMMER FACE) firmly with the mallet
(FS200b-49 HAMMER). The blow will tap the floor board more tightly into posi-
tion, while at the same time, firing a staple at the correct angle into the edge of
the board.
7. Lift the tool off the work surface.
CAUTION:
Keep tool pointed in a safe direction at all times.
Never attempt to drive staples into materials too hard to penetrate, or at too
steep an angle, or too near the edge of the workpiece. The fastener can rico-
chet causing personal injury.
Disconnect tool from air supply before doing any disassembly, maintenance,
clearing a jammmed fastener, leaving the work area, moving the tool to another
location, or handing the tool to another person.
Clean and inspect the tool daily. Carefully check for proper operation of trig-
ger and safety mechanism. Do not use the tool unless both the trigger and the
safety mechanism are functional, or if the tool is leaking air or needs any other
repair.
CLEARING A JAMMED STAPLE
CAUTION: Disconnect the tool from the air supply.
1. Open the magazine cover. Remove any remaining fasteners from the tool.
2. Use a slender, soft steel rod to push the drive blade to its uppermost position.
Remove the jammed fastener with needle nose pliers.
3. Follow instructions in Preparing the Tool to reload fasteners.
