How to use your BABYHALER SPACER
Read all of this leaflet carefully before you start using this
device.
- K eep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.
- I f you have further questions, please ask your doctor or your
pharmacist.
- T he medicine for use with this device has been prescribed for
your baby, and you should not pass it on to others. It may harm
them, even if their symptoms are the same as your baby's.
- F or hygiene reasons, the BABYHALER must be used by a
single patient.
- Do not allow your child to play with the BABYHALER.

WHAT A BABYHALER IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
FOR
A BABYHALER is a device to help babies and small infants take
inhaled medicines. It has a soft facemask which you can place
gently over your baby's nose and mouth.
The BABYHALER is supplied with a standard facemask that is
suitable for most babies.
BEFORE YOU USE BABYHALER
Clean the BABYHALER before first use (see the section "HOW TO
CLEAN YOUR BABYHALER").
CHECKING THE VALVES:
Before you use your "BABYHALER", you need to check that the
two blue valves are working properly. Hold the BABYHALER with
the facemask towards you. Press the facemask to your mouth.
You should be able to see at least part of each of the two blue
valves.
Very gently breathe in and out through the facemask. When you
breathe out, the outside valve at the top of the BABYHALER
should move slightly. When you breathe in, the inside valve should
move slightly. (If this is not happening, see the section "LOOKING
AFTER THE VALVES").
HOW TO USE BABYHALER
PREPARING THE INHALER:
1. Remove the mouthpiece cover from the inhaler and shake the
inhaler.
2. Gently press the inhaler into the inhaler holder. The
mouthpiece of the inhaler should point into the BABYHALER.
GIVING YOUR BABY THE MEDICINE:
1. Your doctor will have told you how many doses of medicine to
give your baby. You should give one dose at a time. Hold your
baby and make sure he or she is settled.
2. Keep your BABYHALER level as shown in the picture.
3. With your thumb, press down once on the inhaler to release a
dose of medicine into the BABYHALER.
As quickly as possible, place the facemask gently but securely
over your baby's nose and mouth. (Hold the BABYHALER at
an angle that is comfortable for both you and your baby). Keep
it there until your baby has taken 5 to 10 breaths (about 15
seconds). You can count the breaths by watching the valves move
with each breath. Then take the facemask away from your baby's
face.
4. If your doctor has prescribed two or more doses, repeat steps
2 and 3.
5. Take the inhaler out of the BABYHALER. Put your BABYHALER
back in its protective bag. Put the mouthpiece cover back on the
inhaler.
If you find it difficult to use your BABYHALER when your baby is
awake, you could try using it when he or she is asleep. If you do
this, remember that it's important to hold the BABYHALER level
when pressing down on the inhaler to release a dose of medicine
(see step 2).
Tell your doctor, nurse or pharmacist if you still have any
difficulties using the BABYHALER Spacer Device.
ONCE YOU HAVE STARTED USING BABYHALER
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BABYHALER:
It is important to clean your BABYHALER regularly - at least once
a week. This means taking the BABYHALER apart, cleaning the
parts and then reassembling it.
TAKING THE BABYHALER APART:
1. Check the inhaler is not in the BABYHALER. Gently pull off the
soft facemask.
2. Remove the next section by pressing on the two grooved clips
with your thumb and forefinger and gently pulling the plastic
sections apart.
3. To separate the remaining two sections, press on the two
grooved clips and gently pull the sections apart.
4. To remove the inside blue valve, pinch it gently at the centre
with your thumb and forefinger and take it off its post. To avoid

Lees goed deze hele bijsluiter voordat u dit hulpmiddel gaat
gebruiken.
- B ewaar deze bijsluiter. Misschien heeft u hem later weer nodig.
- H eeft u nog vragen, neem dan contact op met uw arts of
apotheker.
- G eef het geneesmiddel voor gebruik met dit hulpmiddel
niet door aan anderen, want het is alleen aan uw baby
voorgeschreven. Het kan schadelijk zijn voor anderen, ook
al hebben zij dezelfde klachten als uw baby.
- U it hygiënische overwegingen mag de BABYHALER alleen
worden gebruikt door één patiënt.
- Laat uw kind niet spelen met de BABYHALER.
Alleen geschikt voor gebruik met inhalatoren van GSK zoals
door uw arts voorgeschreven.
Alleen voor gebruik met het geleverde standaard
gezichtsmasker.
WAT EEN BABYHALER IS EN WAARVOOR HET WORDT
GEBRUIKT
Een BABYHALER is een hulpmiddel dat wordt gebruikt om baby's
en kleine zuigelingen te helpen hun inhalatiegeneesmiddelen te
gebruiken. Het heeft een zacht gezichtsmasker dat u voorzichtig
over de neus en mond van uw baby kunt plaatsen.
De BABYHALER wordt geleverd met een standaard
gezichtsmasker dat geschikt is voor de meeste baby's.
VOORDAT U DE BABYHALER GEBRUIKT
Maak de BABYHALER schoon voordat u deze voor de eerste
keer gebruikt (zie rubriek HET SCHOONMAKEN VAN UW
BABYHALER).

5. To remove the outside blue valve, open the outside valve cover,
pinch the blue valve gently at the centre and take it off its post.
CLEANING THE PARTS:
1. Clean all the parts using a baby sterilising solution or tablets or mild
soapy water. Rinse the mask thoroughly in warm water but do not
rinse BABYHALER parts as this creates static.
The valves must be handled carefully.
2. Leave the parts at room temperature until they are completely
dry. Don't put them in a heated place to dry more quickly. Don't rub
the inside of your BABYHALER with a cloth or polish as this may
cause static which can affect how the BABYHALER works.
The device must not be autoclaved.
REASSEMBLING THE BABYHALER:
1. Both valves are exactly the same, so it does not matter which
one goes where. Pick up one of the valves, holding it at the centre
between your thumb and forefinger. Put it on its post on the central
section.
2. Check that the valve is lying flat. If you're not sure, see the
pictures under "HOW TO CHECK THAT THE VALVES ARE
CORRECTLY POSITIONED".
3. Put the other valve on its post. Check that it is lying flat. Close
the outside valve cover.
4. Put the two sections with the valves together as shown in the
picture. Make sure they click shut.
5. Replace the section with the inhaler holder, as shown in the
picture. The two sections should click shut. Make sure that the
inhaler holder and the outside valve cover are both pointing
upwards.
6. Replace the facemask. If you are not going to use the
BABYHALER straight away, put it back into its protective bag.
LOOKING AFTER THE VALVES:
To ensure that your baby gets the dose of medicine each
time, you must check that the two blue valves in your
BABYHALER are working properly each time you use it. The
section "CHECKING THE VALVES", tells you how to do this.
If a valve is not working properly, it might be:
either because it is not correctly positioned in your BABYHALER or
because it has become worn or damaged and the BABYHALER
needs to be replaced.
HOW TO CHECK THAT THE VALVES ARE CORRECTLY
POSITIONED:
1. To check the outside valve, lift the outside valve cover and make
sure that the valve is lying flat.
2. To check the inside valve, take the top section off the
BABYHALER by pressing on the grooved clips near the inside
blue valve and gently pulling the sections apart. Make sure that
the valve is lying flat. Then clip the two sections back together
again.
3. Check your BABYHALER again (see "CHECKING THE
VALVES"). If one of the valves is still not working properly, you will
need to replace the BABYHALER.
HANDLING THE VALVES:
Always handle the valves carefully. Hold them at the centre rather
than at the edges.
Do not expose them to heat or direct sunlight or frost. Do not put
them in hot water.
STORING BABYHALER
Store your BABYHALER in its protective bag.
You may need to replace your BABYHALER every six months of
use.
Ask your pharmacist how to throw away the device you no longer
use. This measure will help protect the environment.
REPORTING OF SERIOUS INCIDENTS
Report any serious incident in relation to the BABYHALER Spacer
Device to the manufacturer. You should also report any serious
incident in relation to the BABYHALER Spacer Device directly
to the competent authority (see details below). It is important to
report such incidents as it can help identify faults with this medical
device and may prevent similar incidents happening again.

HET CONTROLEREN VAN DE VENTIELEN:
Voordat u de BABYHALER gebruikt, moet u controleren of de
twee blauwe ventielen goed werken. Houd de BABYHALER
met het gezichtsmasker naar u toe. Zet het gezichtsmasker aan
uw mond. U moet ten minste een gedeelte van elk van de twee
blauwe ventielen kunnen zien.
Adem heel rustig in en uit via het gezichtsmasker. Als u uitademt,
moet het buitenventiel boven op de BABYHALER iets bewegen.
Als u inademt, moet het binnenventiel iets bewegen (mocht
dit niet het geval zijn, zie dan rubriek ONDERHOUD VAN DE
VENTIELEN).
HOE GEBRUIKT U DE BABYHALER
HET KLAARMAKEN VAN DE INHALATOR:
1. Verwijder het beschermkapje van het mondstuk van de inhalator
en schud de inhalator.
2. Druk de inhalator voorzichtig in de houder voor de inhalator.
Het mondstuk van de inhalator moet in de BABYHALER wijzen.
UW BABY HET GENEESMIDDEL TOEDIENEN:
1. Uw arts heeft u verteld hoeveel doses geneesmiddel u uw baby
moet geven. U moet maar één dosis tegelijk geven. Houd uw baby
vast en zorg ervoor dat hij of zij rustig is.
2. Houd de BABYHALER horizontaal, zoals op het plaatje te zien is.
3. Duw met uw duim eenmaal op de inhalator om een dosis
geneesmiddel in de BABYHALER te laten vrijkomen.
Zo snel als mogelijk, het gezichtsmasker voorzichtig maar stevig over
de neus en mond van uw baby plaatsen. (Houd de BABYHALER
onder een hoek die zowel voor u als voor uw baby comfortabel is).
Houd het daar totdat uw baby 5 tot 10 ademteugen heeft genomen
(ongeveer 15 seconden). U kunt het aantal ademteugen tellen door
naar de ventielen te kijken die met elke ademteug meebewegen.
Haal dan het gezichtsmasker van het gezicht van uw baby.
4. Als uw arts twee of meer doses heeft voorgeschreven, herhaal
dan stappen 2 en 3.
5. Haal de inhalator uit de BABYHALER. Doe uw BABYHALER
terug in de beschermtas. Doe het beschermkapje terug op het
mondstuk van de inhalator.
Als u het moeilijk vindt om uw BABYHALER te gebruiken als uw
baby wakker is, kunt u proberen deze te gebruiken als hij of zij
slaapt. Als u dit doet, denk er dan aan dat het belangrijk is de
BABYHALER horizontaal te houden als u de inhalator naar beneden
duwt om een dosis geneesmiddel te laten vrijkomen (zie stap 2).
Vertel het uw arts, verpleegkundige of apotheker als u
problemen ondervindt bij het gebruik van de BABYHALER
Voorzetkamer.
ALS U BENT BEGONNEN MET HET GEBRUIK VAN DE
BABYHALER
HET SCHOONMAKEN VAN UW BABYHALER:
Het is belangrijk om uw BABYHALER regelmatig schoon te
maken – ten minste eenmaal per week. Dit betekent dat u de
BABYHALER uit elkaar haalt, de onderdelen schoonmaakt en de
BABYHALER dan weer in elkaar zet.
HET UIT ELKAAR HALEN VAN UW BABYHALER:
1. Controleer of de inhalator niet in de BABYHALER zit. Trek
voorzichtig het zachte gezichtsmasker er af.
2. Verwijder het volgende gedeelte door met uw duim en
wijsvinger de twee gegroefde klemmetjes in te drukken en
voorzichtig de plastic gedeeltes van elkaar los te trekken.
3. Om de resterende twee gedeeltes uit elkaar te trekken drukt
u op de twee gegroefde klemmetjes en trekt u voorzichtig de
gedeeltes los van elkaar.
4. Om het binnenste blauwe ventiel te verwijderen drukt u het
ventiel voorzichtig in het midden in met uw duim en wijsvinger en
haal het van zijn plaats. Wees, om te voorkomen dat de ventielen
beschadigen, altijd erg voorzichtig bij het hanteren en houd de
ventielen vooral in het midden vast in plaats van aan de rand.
5. Om het blauwe buitenventiel te verwijderen, opent u het
buitenventieldeksel, pakt u het blauwe ventiel voorzichtig in het
midden en trekt u hem voorzichtig van zijn plaats.
HET SCHOONMAKEN VAN DE ONDERDELEN:
1. Maak alle onderdelen schoon met een steriliserende oplossing
of tabletten geschikt voor baby's of met een mild sopje. Spoel het
masker grondig met warm water, maar spoel de onderdelen van
de BABYHALER niet, omdat dit de onderdelen statisch maakt.
De ventielen moeten voorzichtig gehanteerd worden.
2. Laat de onderdelen bij kamertemperatuur drogen totdat ze
helemaal droog zijn. Leg ze niet op een verwarmde plek om ze
sneller te laten drogen. Wrijf de binnenkant van de BABYHALER
niet met een doek droog of schoon omdat dit de BABYHALER
statisch kan maken, wat van invloed kan zijn op hoe de
BABYHALER werkt.
Het hulpmiddel mag niet in de autoclaaf.

QU'EST-CE QUE LE BABYHALER ET QUAND
DOIT-IL ÊTRE UTILISÉ ?
Le Babyhaler est un dispositif qui facilite l'inhalation d'aérosols
doseurs chez les nourrissons et les jeunes enfants. Le masque
facial souple s'adapte en douceur au nez et à la bouche de
votre enfant.
Le Babyhaler est fourni avec un masque facial standard, qui
convient à la majorité des enfants.
AVANT D'UTILISER LE BABYHALER
Nettoyez le Babyhaler avant la première utilisation (voir la section
COMMENT NETTOYER VOTRE BABYHALER).
CONTRÔLE DES VALVES :
Avant d'utiliser le Babyhaler, vous devez vérifier le bon
fonctionnement des deux valves bleues. Tenez le Babyhaler
avec le masque facial dans votre direction. Pressez le
masque facial sur votre bouche. Dans cette position, vous
devriez voir au moins partiellement les deux valves bleues.
Inspirez et expirez doucement à travers le masque facial. Lorsque
vous expirez, la valve extérieure sur le haut du Babyhaler doit
légèrement bouger. Lorsque vous inspirez, la valve intérieure doit
légèrement bouger à son tour (si ce n'est pas le cas, reportez-
vous à la section MAINTENANCE DES VALVES.)
COMMENT UTILISER LE BABYHALER ?
PRÉPARATION DE L'AÉROSOL DOSEUR :
1. Retirez le capuchon protecteur de l'aérosol doseur et agitez
l'aérosol.
2. Placez délicatement l'aérosol-doseur dans le logement porte-
aérosol. L'embout de l'aérosol-doseur doit être dirigé vers le
Babyhaler.
COMMENT ADMINISTRER LE MÉDICAMENT À VOTRE
ENFANT :
1. Votre médecin vous aura au préalable indiqué le nombre de
doses que vous devez donner à votre enfant. Vous devrez donner
une seule dose à la fois. Tenez votre enfant fermement et veillez à
ce qu'il reste calme.

HET OPNIEUW IN ELKAAR ZETTEN VAN DE BABYHALER:
1. Beide ventielen zijn precies hetzelfde, dus het maakt niet uit
welk ventiel u waar plaatst. Pak één van de ventielen, houd het in
het midden van het nippeltje vast tussen uw duim en wijsvinger.
Zet het op zijn plaats in het middelgedeelte.
2. Controleer of het ventiel plat ligt. Als u dit niet zeker weet, kijk
dan naar de plaatjes in rubriek HOE CONTROLEERT U OF DE
VENTIELEN GOED GEPLAATST ZIJN.
3. Plaats het andere ventiel terug op zijn plaats. Controleer of het
ventiel plat ligt. Sluit het buitenste ventieldeksel.
4. Schuif de twee gedeeltes met de ventielen in elkaar, zoals u op
het plaatje kunt zien. Controleer of ze dichtklikken.
5. Plaats het gedeelte met de houder voor de inhalator terug, zoals
u op het plaatje kunt zien. Beide delen moeten dichtklikken. Zorg
ervoor dat de houder voor de inhalator en het buitenventieldeksel
allebei naar boven wijzen.
6. Plaats het gezichtsmasker terug. Als u de BABYHALER niet
direct gaat gebruiken, berg deze dan weer op in de beschermtas.
ONDERHOUD VAN DE VENTIELEN:
Om er zeker van te zijn dat uw baby telkens de dosis
geneesmiddel krijgt, moet u elke keer dat u de BABYHALER
gebruikt, controleren of de twee blauwe ventielen in de
BABYHALER goed werken. De informatie in rubriek HET
CONTROLEREN VAN DE VENTIELEN vertelt u hoe u dit kunt
controleren.
Mocht een ventiel niet goed werken, dan kan het zijn:
omdat het niet goed in uw BABYHALER geplaatst is
of
omdat het versleten of beschadigd is en de BABYHALER
vervangen moet worden.
HOE CONTROLEERT U OF DE VENTIELEN GOED
GEPLAATST ZIJN:
1. Om het buiten ventiel te controleren doet u het deksel van
het buiten ventiel open en controleert u of het ventiel vlak ligt.
2. Om het binnen ventiel te controleren haalt u het bovenste
gedeelte van de BABYHALER er af door de gegroefde
klemmetjes bij het blauwe binnen ventiel in te drukken en
voorzichtig de delen uit elkaar te trekken. Controleer of het
ventiel vlak ligt. Klem daarna de twee gedeeltes weer in elkaar.
3. Controleer uw BABYHALER opnieuw (zie rubriek HET
CONTROLEREN VAN DE VENTIELEN). Als één van de ventielen
nog steeds niet goed werkt, moet u de BABYHALER vervangen.
HET HANTEREN VAN DE VENTIELEN:
Wees altijd voorzichtig met het hanteren van de ventielen. Pak ze
in het midden vast in plaats van aan de rand.
Bescherm de ventielen tegen hitte of direct zonlicht of vorst. Plaats
de ventielen niet in heet water.
BEWAREN VAN DE BABYHALER
Bewaar uw BABYHALER in de beschermtas.
Bij dagelijks gebruik moet u mogelijk uw BABYHALER elke zes
maanden vervangen of eerder als deze beschadigd is.
Vraag uw apotheker wat u met het hulpmiddel moet doen
dat u niet meer gebruikt. Deze maatregel helpt het milieu te
beschermen.
MELDING VAN ERNSTIGE INCIDENTEN
Meld elk ernstig incident met betrekking tot de BABYHALER
Voorzetkamer aan de fabrikant. U kunt ook elk ernstig incident
met betrekking tot de BABYHALER Voorzetkamer rechtstreeks
melden via het landelijk meldpunt (zie hieronder voor details). Het
is belangrijk om dergelijke incidenten te melden, omdat dit kan
helpen bij het identificeren van fouten met dit medisch hulpmiddel
en kan voorkomen dat soortgelijke incidenten nogmaals
plaatsvinden.

2. Tenez le Babyhaler à l'horizontale tel qu'illustré ci-dessous.
3. Avec votre pouce, enfoncez le poussoir de l'aérosol doseur
aussi rapidement que possible pour pulvériser une dose de
médicament dans le Babyhaler.
Aussi vite que possible, placez le masque facial en douceur – mais
en veillant à ce qu'il reste bien en place – sur le nez et la bouche
de votre enfant (appliquez le Babyhaler à un angle permettant une
position confortable pour votre enfant et vous-même). Maintenez le
Babyhaler dans cette position le temps que votre enfant respire 5 à
10 fois (15 secondes environ). Vous pouvez compter les respirations
de l'enfant en observant le mouvement des valves à chaque
respiration. Retirez le masque facial du visage de votre enfant.
4. Si votre médecin a prescrit deux pulvérisations du médicament
par administration, répétez les points 2 et 3.
5. Retirez l'aérosol doseur du Babyhaler. Rangez le Babyhaler
dans son sac de protection. Remettez en place le capuchon
protecteur de l'embout de l'aérosol doseur.
Si l'utilisation du Babyhaler s'avère difficile lorsque l'enfant est
réveillé, essayez d'utiliser le dispositif lorsqu'il dort. Veillez alors
absolument à tenir le Babyhaler à l'horizontale lorsque vous
actionnez l'aérosol doseur pour libérer une dose de médicament
(voir le point 2 de la section COMMENT ADMINISTRER LE
MÉDICAMENT À VOTRE ENFANT).
Informez votre médecin, votre infirmier / ère ou votre
pharmacien si vous éprouvez toujours des difficultés à
utiliser la chambre d'inhalation BABYHALER
APRÈS AVOIR COMMENCÉ À UTILISER LE
BABYHALER
COMMENT NETTOYER VOTRE BABYHALER :
Il est important de nettoyer le Babyhaler régulièrement, au
moins une fois par semaine. Vous devez pour cela démonter
le Babyhaler, laver toutes les parties, puis le réassembler.
DÉMONTAGE DU BABYHALER :
1. Assurez-vous que l'aérosol doseur ne soit pas fixé sur le
Babyhaler. Retirez prudemment le masque facial souple.
2. Retirez la pièce suivante en appuyant du pouce et de l'index
