BOJ's story is that of Eibar
Eibar is the Northern Spanish (EU) town that has seen the birth
and development of the BOJ brand. Historically, Eibar has been
known for its craft and industry as well as for its entrepreneu-
rial spirit. The Industrial Revolution brought many people into this
small town and its surroundings from the countryside and a large
network of factories and workshops was built up with a powerful
industrial activity.
BOJ, a dedication to doing things well
BOJ was born in 1905, a family-focused company that origina-
lly concentrated on craft stamping of decorative metal goods,
but this soon gave way to a manufacturing business with pro-
ducts such as locks, razors, can openers, corkscrews, desktop
objects, etc., designing products that have been awarded in-
ternational patents and that are still in use today. Some of these
objects have appeared in the books on design of various museums
and institutions.
In the last decades of the twentieth century, with the second ge-
neration of people at the head of the company, BOJ consolida-
ted its position in international markets as a brand leader in the
manufacture of quality products in Household goods, Hospitality
trade goods and tools for wine tasting.
A difficult period
1983 marks a before and after for the company. Torrential rains
gave rise to landslides that buried part of the works, thoroughly
breaking the entire manufacturing process. The fighting spirit which
is the mark of the character of the company people, ensured the
resurgence of the brand which emerged with a new impetus.
