6.2 BRAKING DURING MOVEMENT
During movement it is possible to brake the wheelchair putting pressure with your hands on the handrims.
Grab the handrims and exercise a homogenous pressure with both hands, until the wheelchair stops completely.
6.3 SITTING DOWN AND GETTING UP FROM THE WHEELCHAIR
WARNING!
Risk of falling after sudden braking!
If you use the parking brakes during movement, it is no longer possible to control
the direction of the movement and the wheelchair could become suddenly
blocked, which could lead to a collision or fall from the wheelchair.
Never pull the parking brakes during movement.
WARNING!
Risk of falling off the wheelchair If the wheelchair is quickly decelerated by a
helper who pulls the push handles, the user could fall from the wheelchair.
Always fasten the seatbelt if present.
Make sure that the helper received individual training on how to push occupied
wheelchairs.
CAUTION!
Risk of burns on the skin
The handrims could warm up, if you brake the wheelchair for a long period of
time.
You could burn the palm of your hands.
Wear an appropriate pair of gloves.
WARNING!
Risk of falling!
During transfers the risk of falling is very high.
Only sit down and get up from the wheelchair with no help if you are physically
able to do so.
