5 Using

Switch the inverter on with the ON/OFF switch on the front panel.
The inverter can now provide power to the users. Switch in more
than one user one at a time to prevent the inverter having to pro-
vide the switching on current for all users at the same time.
5.1

ON/OFF switch

The ON/OFF switch only switches the control current in the
inverter on or off. It does not switch off the power supply to the
inverter. The inverter works within the following minimum and
maximum voltages:
12 Volt model: 10 to 16 Volts
24 Volt model: 20 to 32 Volts
The inverter can only supply the quoted power if the voltage
supply is within the above limits.

LED indicators

BATT
VOLTS
This LED bar shows the voltage at the battery terminals of the
inverter.
This voltage is near enough the same as the battery voltage
when there is a low input current. This voltage is less than the
battery voltage when there is a high input current due to voltage
losses in the battery wires and at the connections.
The situation is good when the indicator is in the green area. If
the indicator is in the bottom or the top part of the red area the
inverter can switch itself off.
LOAD% WATT
This shows the power supplied by the inverter to the users as
a percentage of the nominal power. This indicator may only be
in the green or orange area during continuous loading. A brief
period of slight overloading whereby the indicator enters the red
area is permitted. Where there is lengthy or extreme overload-
ing the indicator will flash red and the inverter will then switch
itself off.
Situation if one of the following LEDs is on:
BATT Hl
The inverter has switched itself off because the battery voltage
was too high. The inverter will switch back on automatically when
the voltage has dropped below the maximum value again.
BATT LO
The inverter has switched itself off because the battery voltage
was too low. The inverter will switch back on automatically when
the voltage has risen above the minimum value again.
TEMP Hl
The inverter has switched itself off because the temperature of
the inverter was too high. This can have been caused because
the inverter had to supply more than the nominal value or
because the inverter has been installed in a space where the
heat cannot be dissipated properly. The inverter will switch back
on automatically when it has cooled down.

OVERLOAD
The inverter has switched itself off because the output is over-
loaded or has short-circuited.
Overloading less than 150%
The LED flashes and the inverter will first automatically attempt
a restart 3 times. If the overloading is still too high at the third
attempt the inverter will no longer be switched on automati-
cally.
Overloading more than 150% (short-circuiting)
The inverter will be switched off and will no longer restart auto-
matically.
Switching the inverter on again
First solve the overloading problem. Switch the ON/OFF switch
on the inverter to OFF and then back to ON.
Or press the key OFF/RESET on the remote control panel.

Limitations of use

The inverter is intended exclusively to provide those electrical
and electronic appliances that can be connected directly to the
230 Volt network on shore with energy.
The power consumed continuously by these appliances must
not be greater than the nominal power of the inverter. See the
technical data for the nominal power.
Note that the power supplied is given for some appliances. The
power consumed can be considerably more!
For instance, the power consumed by a microwave oven is
about 1.5 times the power supplied.
It is possible that a motor will not start even though this motor
consumes less power than the inverter can supply. Check the
voltage shown on the 'BATT' LED bar while trying to start the
motor. If the voltage drops to less than 11 Volts the connections
to the battery could be poor or the battery could be insufficiently
charged.
If this is not the case a larger battery must be installed.
Power Save Mode
The Power Save Mode is not suitable for all appliances!
If an appliance can only be switched on when the network
voltage is already present then the Power Save Mode must be
switched off. Remember here equipment that is switched on and
off by means of a push button rather than by an on/off switch
directly in the voltage line.
