Please read these operating instructions care-
fully prior to installation and keep them for later
use.
Applications
The illuminator with an infrared LED of high
luminous intensity is designed for applications
in video surveillance systems with cameras
suitable for light in the infrared range. It is
suited for close-range surveillance.
In case of models IR-... which emit light with
a wavelength of 880 nm, a reddish glow of the
LED is visible during operation; in case of
models IRU-..., however, operation is not visi-
ble as their light with a wavelength of 940 nm is
absolutely invisible to the eye.
Safety Notes
The illuminator corresponds to all required di-
rectives of the EU and is therefore marked with
.
Caution – invisible infrared radia-
tion! To prevent eye damage, never
look into the illuminator with optical
instruments (e. g. binoculars) when
it is switched on.
Protect the illuminator against extreme tem-
peratures (admissible ambient temperature
range -30 °C to +40 °C).
The housing is weatherproof (IP 55), how-
ever, not completely waterproof. Therefore,
do not immerse the illuminator in water.
The housing will heat up very much during
operation. When installing the illuminator,
make sure that air may circulate freely
around the housing to ensure a sufficient
cooling.
No guarantee claims for the illuminator and
no liability for any resulting personal damage
or material damage will be accepted if the
illuminator is used for other purposes than
originally intended or if it is not correctly in-
stalled.
If the illuminator is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the envi-
ronment.
Installation
1) Screw the illuminator to a support via the
/
1
6.3 mm (
") thread on its rear side.
4
2) For operation, a regulated 12 V power sup-
ply unit with a permanent power rating of
200 mA is required. In case of a non-regu-
lated power supply unit, there is a risk of
overvoltage which may damage the LED or
reduce its life.
Connect the red core to the positive pole
of the power supply unit and the black core
to the negative pole. Never confuse the
poles, otherwise the illuminator will be
damaged! For outdoor installation, make the
connection weatherproof.
3) Switch on the surveillance system. To deter-
mine a suitable mounting place, position the
illuminator in such a way to provide an opti-
mum illumination of the surveillance zone in
the dark (check via a monitor). Mount the
illuminator to this place via the support.
Cleaning
Clean the cooling ribs with a brush and water,
if necessary. Clean the lens with a soft, damp
cloth. Never use abrasive detergents or chemi-
cals!
