6.2 Symbol P (green) = power in the blower
•
The power needed depends on the filters and facepiece to be used.
•
When the display shows P9, the blower device will easily reach the minimum flow rate. When
the display shows P1, the blower device reaches the minimum flow rate only with full motor
power. This makes the battery run down rapidly.
•
If the blower device no longer reaches the minimum flow rate, the buzzer will sound and P0 will
flash on the display. This can be caused by clogged filters or for instance a throttled breathing
hose. Check the filters and free air flow to the facepiece.
7 Start-up
7.1 Before use
o See the Instructions for Use of the respective facepiece and the Filter.
o Use appropriate Scott health & Safety filters and facepieces. Always use two filters of the same
type and class.
Before use, check filter condition and intactness. The filter shall be replaced if it has been exposed
o
to strong press or impact. It may be damaged.
o Activate the battery (when taking the device into use for the first time, point 5.1), put the battery
into place and charge it.
Check the following
• facepiece condition and intactness
• blower device condition and intactness
• filters are intact and properly fastened to the blower device
• breathing hose is tightly fixed to the blower device and facepiece
• adequate air flow and state of the battery as follows:
- Assemble all items ready for use (facepiece connected) but do not don the unit.
- Start the blower by switching to position | so the buzzer will sound.
- The air flow and battery status are sufficient when the figures shown are between
A9...A7 and P9...P3.
Don the unit. Carry the blower device so that you can check the blower's display when working.
Donning instructions for the facepieces are given in the respective Instructions for Use.
If the blower fails to start:
•
Battery has not been activated (at the first usage time).
Activate the battery (point 5.1).
•
Battery completely discharged.
Recharge the battery (point 5.3).
•
Power has been switched off by the battery short-circuit control.
Contact the manufacturer's representative.
•
Defective battery.
Contact the manufacturer's representative.
7.2 After use
•
Stop the blower device by switching to position 0.
•
The blower device must always be turned off from the switch, also if the device has stopped
due to low battery.
•
Doff the unit. Carry out the necessary maintenance for the blower device (point 8) and start
recharging (point 5.3).
•
When not in use, prevent over-discharge of battery by keeping the blower device always
on recharge.
