The Microphone parts explained
1.
Cardioid Capsule
For wide range pick up in front of the microphone. Ideal for
vocal use and many studio applications.
2.
Hyper-cardioid Capsule
For a more directional pick up, useful for pinpointing a
sound source and excluding unwanted nearby noise.
3.
Omni-directional Capsule
Will pick up sounds from all directions around the Micro-
phone.
4.
-10 dB attenuation pad
To be screwed in between the body and the capsule to re-
duce the microphones sensitivity by 10 dB. Useful when
miking a particularly loud sound source such as a guitar
cabinet at high volumes etc to achieve a more manage-
able signal.
5.
Low-cut Filter (optional)
to be screwed in between the body and the capsule to at-
tenuate / cut the signals lower than 75Hz.
6.
Preliminary amplifier
The body of the Microphone amplifies the sound picked up
from the capsule to bring the output to the correct level for
use in conjunction with the balanced input of a mixer.
Troubleshooting
Humming or Buzzing sound:
Microphone may not be earthed, check connections are tightly
done up, check the cable you are using, check mains connec-
tions of all equipment in the chain, check XLR polarity.
