and have understood the dangers resulting from this. Children may not play with the
device. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children, unless
they are older than 8 years of age and are supervised.
❐ ATTENTION Hot surfaces! Parts of the device may become very hot during or
directly after use. Always use potholders or kitchen gloves when opening the lid,
removing the steamer adapter, the basket or cooking insert and when adding or
removing food. Only hold the food container and water reservoir by the handles!
❐ ATTENTION Scalding hazard due to steam emission! Be careful when opening
the lid or removing the steamer adapter. Hot steam may be emitted.
❐ Scalding hazard! Be careful when handling the steamer unit! Hot water may collect
in the intermediate panels of the steamer adapter and cooking container! Be careful
when removing them!
❐ Keep your hair, hands and other parts of your body away from the appliance when
using it and also thereafter! Be particularly careful when handling the appliance while
it contains hot liquid.
For your health's sake
❐ The appliance can be affl icted by product residues. Clean it thoroughly before fi rst
use and after every use, in order to avoid health impairment. Please read the related
tips in the chapter "Cleaning and storage".
Correct installation and connection
❐ Only use and store the appliance out of reach of children. The power cable should be
out of reach of children. They could pull down the appliance with the cable.
❐ Only use the appliance in closed rooms.
❐ Always install the appliance with clear space on a dry, level, solid and heat-resistant
base.
❐ Maintain suffi cient clearance to other heat sources e. g. hot plates or ovens, in order
to avoid damage to the appliance.
❐ Install the appliance in a position where neither the appliance, the power cable nor
the plug can drop into or get into contact with water or other liquids, in order to avoid
electrical shock.
❐ The appliance should never be installed and used in the vicinity of fl ammable materi-
als (curtains, textiles, etc.).
❐ Never operate the appliance on a hob or in the vicinity of a gas source.
❐ Only connect the appliance to a correctly installed plug socket, equipped with a ground
fault interrupter. The plug socket must be accessible after connection. The mains voltage
must correspond to the technical specifi cations of the appliance. Only use proper exten-
sion cables of which the technical specifi cations correspond to those of the appliance.
❐ Ensure that the connected power cable does not pose a risk of tripping. Don't let the
cable hang over the edges of tables or kitchen counters. Someone might get caught
in the cable and pull the appliance down.
❐ Lay the cable so that it will not be squeezed or kinked and does not make contact
with any hot surfaces.
