Installation & Operation:
1. Ins tall a 9-volt battery (n ot inc luded) and co nnec t the UA -45 to y our tele -
phone handset as shown. Use only the provided "short cord"
UA-45 to the phone base. (Note: Igno re the ON /OFF indicator while doing
any switch setting. It is not relevant at this time.) For your safet y, always dis -
connect UA-45 f rom the phone base befo re replacing its batte ry. Use a coin
to pry open the batte ry doo r.

2. Set Volume cont rol to its mid-point. Set Tone Cont rol Switch to Position 2.

3. S etting the C ompatibility S witc h: There are 7 pos itions on this switch. Posi-
tions 1 to 6 are for c ompatibility setting us e. Pos ition 7 is a "by-pass" position
and o ffers no amplific ation and should only be used in c ase of emergenc y
when there is a total power outage.
A. Set Compatibility switch to Position 1 (Note: This is the most

B. Lift up the handset and verify you can hear a clear dial tone.
C. If there is no clear dial tone, hang up the handset and move the Compa

D. If you do get a clear dial tone, verify the dial tone loudness

4. While talking on the phone, verify you can va ry the handset volume by
rotating the volume cont rol on the amplifie r. (Caution: Lower the volume
control if you notice the re is a squeal sound in the handset).

UA-45 comes with one-year limited warrant y. We warrant during this warranty period,
from the date of pu rchase, to the original consume r, UA-45 to be f ree f rom defects in
materials and workmanship under intended home use. In the event
