7 Connections
The connecting cable (Fig. D1) has the following assignment:
colour
white
yellow
blue
brown
The connecting cable of the pulse module is connected to the terminals 10 (+) and 11 (-, GND) of the heat cal-
culator. This terminal designation corresponds to EN1434.
7.1 Supply voltage
A 3.0 V lithium battery is fitted in the standard version with up to 12 years lifetime (depending on configuration).
The battery cannot be replaced. The flow sensor may optionally be powered from an external supply e.g. from a
calculator.
The battery life depends on the output frequency. The average output frequency at the nominal flow rate can be
calculated as follow:
nominal flow rate, q
f [Hz] = ——————————————
pulse value, [l/Puls]
f
[Hz]
max
≤ 1
≤ 3
≤ 6
If a high pulse frequency is needed, an external power supply should be used.
Technical features of main power supply
External voltage 3.0
•
Power consumption <130 mAh per year
•
peak current <10 mA
•
7.2 Pulse output
The flow sensor has two pulse outputs
•
Normal pulse output
•
Test pulse output (for calibration purposes)
•
The technical features of flow sensor pulses are as follows:
Open collector (drain)
•
Maximum external voltage U
•
Output current ≤ 20mA with a residual voltage of ≤0.5 VDC
•
Battery powered output frequency ≤20 Hz
•
External powered output frequency ≤150 Hz
•
Pulse value, pulse duration
•
- Battery: 1 liter, 10 ms (10 liter, 25 ms for qp ≥15 m3/h)
- External power supply: 1 liter, 10 ms (2.5 liter, 10 ms for qp ≥40 m3/h)
Possible connections are shown in Fig. D2 and Fig. D3 .
