SAFETY WARNINGS
When using the machine, always observe the
enclosed safety warnings as well as the additional
safety warnings.
The following symbols are used throughout this
manual:
Denotes risk of personal injury or
damage to the machine.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR PLUNGE
SAWS
• Keep people away from the machine.
• Never leave an activated machine unattended.
• Keep your hands away from the area where
sawing takes place or from the saw blade.
• Always hold the machine with both grips, in
order to prevent injuries caused by the saw
blade.
• Put your hands in a position so that you can
resist kickbacks.
• The protective cover only protects the top side
of the workpiece. Never place your hands
under the workpiece.
• Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the
workpiece. Less than one full tooth may be
visible under the workpiece.
• Do not saw very small workpieces. Firmly
secure round workpieces in order to prevent
rotation.
• Never hold the workpiece that must be sawn
with your hands or on your legs. It is important
to secure the workpiece firmly in order to
reduce the danger of bodily contact with the
saw blade, seizure of the saw blade or loss of
equipment control.
• Hold the machine on the isolated grips only,
when you are working in a situation in which
the saw blade could make contact with hidden
power leads or with the cable of the machine.
Contact with live leads, will also result in
electrically live metal parts of the saw, which
will cause an electric shock.
• A worn out saw blade is still sharp. Wear
protective gloves in order to remove a saw
blade.
• Use saw blades, exclusively recommended by
the manufacturer.
• Always use saw blades with the correct
diameter and with a suitable shaft hole. Saw
blades that do not fit on the assembly parts of
the saw, will function irregularly and may
cause the loss of control of the tool.
• Never use a damaged or a wrong saw blade
clamping flange or mounting screw. The saw
blade clamping flange and the mounting screw
have been designed especially for optimum
performance and reliability.
• Start the machine and start sawing when the
engine has reached full speed.
• Never slow down the machine after switching
off, but allow the engine to come to a complete
standstill before you put away the machine.
• Never put the saw away before the saw blade
has come to a complete standstill.
• Never use a poorly functioning or damaged
saw. Never try to repair the machine yourself,
but always contact a service division
appointed by the supplier.
• Always check if the protective cover is closed
securely before starting the machine. Do not
use the machine if the protective cover does
not move freely and does not close properly.
Never secure the protective cover as a result
of which the saw blade is unprotected.
• Regularly check if the spring of the protective
cover works properly. Keep the protective
cover free from accumulations of saw dust and
waste. Do not use the machine if the
protective cover does not function perfectly.
Prevention of a kickback and dangerous
situations
• A kickback is the sudden reaction caused by a
jammed, blocked or wrongly aligned saw
blade. This results in the sawblade moving
away uncontrolled from the workpiece in the
direction of the user.
• A kickback occurs when the saw blade gets
stuck or jammed. The saw blade blocks and
the power of the engine throws the circular
saw in the direction of the user
• If the saw blade in the saw cut twists or is
aligned wrongly, the teeth of the rear saw
blade area can get caught in the workpiece, as
