SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to
observe these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for
any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage
caused by improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions.
The warranty will be void in such cases.
-
For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifi ca-
tions of the product are not permitted.
-
Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the product
emits only relatively weak radio signals, these may lead to the malfunction of
life-support systems. The same may also possibly be the case in other areas.
-
The outdoor sensor is suitable for installation in protected outdoor areas. Do not
operate the product in or under water.
-
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children. The
product contains small parts, glass (display) and batteries. Position the product
so it is out of the reach of children.
-
Do not leave the packaging materials unattended. They may become dangerous
playthings for children.
-
Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
NOTES ON BATTERIES AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.
-
Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable bat-
teries (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).
-
Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk they
could be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
-
Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin
may cause acid burns; therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
-
Ensure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled
or thrown into a fi re. There is a risk of explosion!
-
Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
Only charge rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a
suitable battery charger.
-
If the device will not be used for a long period of time (e.g. in case of storage),
remove the inserted batteries/accumulators. Old batteries/rechargeable batter-
ies can leak and cause damages on the product; loss of guarantee/warranty!
-
Always replace the entire set of batteries/accumulators; use only batteries/accu-
mulators of the same type and by the same manufacturer with the same charge
status (do not mix full with semi-full or empty batteries/accumulators).
-
Never mix normal batteries with rechargeable ones. Use either batteries or
rechargeable batteries.
-
For the proper disposal of (rechargeable) batteries, please read the chapter
"Disposal".

INSERTING BATTERIES, GETTING STARTED
In general, it is possible to operate the outdoor sensor with rechargeable
batteries.
However, due to their lower voltage (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V, battery =
1.5 V) and lower capacity, the period of operation is reduced, and the range
may also be reduced. Furthermore, at low temperatures (e.g. in winter) re-
chargeable batteries are less effi cient than normal batteries.
Therefore, we recommend that you use high-quality alkaline batteries in or-
der to allow for long-lasting and reliable operation.
If you want to insert rechargeable batteries in the outdoor sensor, you
should use NiMH rechargeable batteries with low self-discharge.
See the operating instructions of the weather station on how an additional
outdoor sensor can be used.
-
Open the battery compartment on the rear, by unscrewing the four screws (4)
for the battery compartment cover (3).
-
The transmission channel can be set by using the sliding switch (7).
If more than one sensor is used with a weather station, each sensor has to be set
to a different transmission channel!
-
Insert two batteries (or rechargeable batteries) of type AA/Mignon with the cor-
rect polarity into the battery compartment (8) (observe positive/+ and nega-
tive/-). All display segments appear briefl y on the display; then the fi rst meas-
ured value for the temperature and air humidity will be displayed.
If no display appears, check whether the batteries or rechargeable batteries
are charged and that they are inserted correctly. If necessary, briefl y press
the counter-sunk reset button with a toothpick (do not apply force while
pressing) or remove both of the batteries/rechargeable batteries, then wait
a while and reinsert them.
-
Replace the battery compartment cover (3) and screw it in place again.
-
Approx. every 43-47 seconds, the outdoor sensor sends the measured values for
temperature and air humidity to the weather station. The red LED (2) lights up
briefl y during each transmission process.
-
The batteries need changing if the contrast of the LC display decreases or if
there is no longer an indication visible on the display.
The weather station may also display a battery symbol for the outdoor sensor.
Please consult the operating instructions for the weather station.
-
The instruction manual for the weather station also contains information on how
the measurement data from more than one outdoor sensor for temperature/air
humidity can be displayed (for example: by repeatedly pressing the key "CH" or
"CHANNEL" on the weather station).
-
If the weather station does not recognise the new outdoor sensor, perform a
search on the weather station for the available outdoor sensors (see the operat-
ing instructions for the weather station). The search usually takes a few minutes.
In addition, check that the outdoor sensors are set to different transmission
channels (e.g. outdoor sensor 1 = transmission channel 1, outdoor sensor 2 =
transmission channel 2, and so on).
