Installation and Maintenance Instructions
Instructions d'Installations et de Maintenance
Installations– und Wartungsanleitung
1.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
This concerns the hazards, which may be encountered
when installing and maintaining this equipment. It is
therefore important that these instructions are followed.
Before installation
Ensure that:
a)
The voltage, working fluid and the maximum
working pressure stated on the product
nameplate are suitable for the working
environment.
b)
The proposed method of mounting is
adequate to support the total operational
weight of the unit.
During installation and maintenance
Ensure that:
a)
The unit is installed and maintained by
qualified personnel only.
b)
The electrical supply is isolated and secured
from accidental reconnection.
c)
The working area is adequately ventilated.
d)
The temperature of coils with vinyl coated fins
does not exceed 150°C (e.g. during brazing)
as toxic fumes would be produced.
2.
INSTALLATION
General
Upon receipt, the units should be visually inspected and
the supplier notified (within seven days) of any damage
or shortages.
Units are not portable and are only for permanent instal-
lation.
The units are designed to be mounted flush with the
ceiling. (Sealing any small gap between the unit and
the ceiling is recommended.)
Handling
Care must be taken while removing the packaging and
installing to prevent damage.

Location
The location of the unit should be carefully selected to
ensure that:
a)
Air distribution is not adversely affected by
obstructions. Product loading must be in
accordance with good refrigeration practice.
b)
Air entering the unit is not obstructed.
c)
Good air distribution is achieved within the
cooled space.
d)
The unit must be installed level in both
directions.
To assist with the installation of the unit a fixing tem-
plate is printed on the packaging. In order to reduce the
unit weight and provide easy access to the fixings the
fan plate may be removed. This requires the earth lead
from the case to be disconnected from the fanplate.
This must be reconnected before the unit is operated.
Refrigeration Pipework
Pipework to and from the unit should be selected to suit
the application and not the connection size of the unit.
It should be supported independently from the unit and
in a way that prevents the transmission of vibration to
the unit. A competent engineer should install refrigerant
pipework to a high standard of refrigeration practice.
Knockouts are provided in the sides and back of the unit
for the connection of services.
Condensate Drainage
It is recommended that the drainline includes a trap,
fitted outside the coldroom.
TEV Selection
It is important that the TEV is correctly sized. An
internally equalised TEV may only be used on
models JG1-JG5. On models JG6-JG8 an externally
equalised TEV must be used. The TEV size should
be determined using the maximum design capacity and
the minimum valve pressure drop. This occurs at the
minimum condensing pressure.
