Installation
Connect the local unit to a computer using the built-in USB cable.

• U224-1R4-R – No LEDs illuminate at this point.
• U224-4R4-R – The Red LED on the local unit illuminates to
(U224-1R4-R only) Connect the external power supply to the local

unit, and then plug it into a Tripp Lite Surge Suppressor, Power
Distribution Unit (PDU) or Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Using Cat5e/6 cable, connect the RJ45 ports on the local and

remote units.
• U224-1R4-R – The Red LED on the remote unit illuminates to
• U224-4R4-R – No additional LEDs illuminate at this point.

(U224-4R4-R only) Connect the external power supply to the remote
unit, and then plug it into a Tripp Lite Surge Suppressor, Power

units. Note: Remote ports support USB 2.0 devices at USB 1.1 speeds.
• U224-1R4-R – On the local unit, the Green LEDs next to the USB
