Ensure a good contrast (light-dark); if necessary paint the objects
to be measured black (in the area of the rotating reflective mark-
er). The non-reflecting part has always to be larger than the
reflective marker.
b) Measuring Revolutions
1. Press and hold the measuring key TEST (3). The laser is active.
The display shows "RPM" and the currently measured revolution
speed.
2. Direct the laser beam with a maximum angle of +/- 45° to the
reflective marker. The distance between the measuring instru-
ment and the marker can be between 50 and 500 mm. When the
laser beam has been properly reflected, the display shows the

revolution speed in the unit rpm (revolutions per minute) is con-
tinuously displayed.
3. Measuring failures can occur on very slow rotating objects; this
can be prevented by attaching more reflective markers evenly
around the object. The measuring result has to be divided by the
number of reflective markers.
4. After measuring release the measuring key TEST. The measur-
ing instrument turns off.
5. Press the measuring key TEST for new measurements.
c) Reading out the Measurement Memory
The laser tachometer is equipped with a measuring memory. The
highest value, the lowest value and the most recent value are
stored. To read out the memory, proceed as follows:
1. Press and hold the measuring memory key MEM (2). The display
turns on. The highest measured value (UP) appears on the
display.
