• Connect the power supply to the CH3B2E.
• Connect the power cable to the power supply and to a free wall outlet.
• Decide which interface cable you will use:
o eSATA connection: Connect the eSATA cable to the CH3B2E and to a free eSATA port on your
o USB connection:
Note : If the CH3B2E is connected to your computer with both the USB and eSATA cable, the eSATA
connection will be disabled and the CH3B2E will operate in USB mode.
• Turn on your computer.
• Turn on the CH3B2E with the power switch on the backside.
The computer will automatically recognize and install the CH3B2E. No driver installation is required.
The CH3B2E is configured to JBOD (single disk configuration) by default. When there are 2 harddisks
inserted in the CH3B2E, they will be identified on your computer as 2 separate volumes.
Note : When you have connected the CH3B2E to your computer with eSATA, it is possible that the unit
will only show 1 active harddisk LED. This is caused by your eSATA controller, which cannot
handle multiple SATA harddisks on 1 connection.
To solve this issue, there are multiple solutions:
A.
Connect the CH3B2E to your computer by USB.
B.
Configure the CH3B2E to 1 of the other harddisk configurations. (See chapter 5 how you can
change the harddisk configuration of the CH3B2E)
C.
Replace your eSATA controller by an eSATA controller which supports multiple SATA
harddisks on 1 connection.
3. Connect to your computer
