PROBLEM
Battery clamps do not
spark when touched
together.
The battery is connected
and the charger is plugged
in, but is not charging.
I cannot select a 6V or 12V
setting.
No reading on the digital
display.
Yellow/orange CHARGING
LED is solid and the display
shows ANALYZING
BATTERY.
The display shows
BAD BATTERY.
The display shows
CHARGE ABORTED -
BAD BATTERY.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
The charger is equipped with a
START/STOP button. It will not

Auto Voltage Detection, which
automatically detects the
voltage and charges the battery.
Charger is not plugged in.
No power at the receptacle.
The display is in sleep mode,
during charging.
The charger needs to check
the condition of the battery.
The battery is sulfated.
The battery is sulfated and
desulfation has failed.
The battery is too large for
the charger.
The clamps are not making a
good connection.
No power at receptacle.
AC cord and/or extension
cord is loose.
The clamps are not making a

Failure to wait 3 minutes

SOLUTION
No problem; this is a normal
condition.
Press the START/STOP button to
activate a mode.
No problem; this is normal.
Plug the charger into an AC outlet.
Check for open fuse or circuit
breaker supplying AC outlet.
Press the Display button to turn
the display back on.
The charger has not completed the
checking process. This process
can last for up to 5 minutes, if the
starting voltage is below 8.0V.
Have the battery checked, and
replace, if necessary.
Have the battery checked, and

You need a charger with a higher
amp rate.
Check for poor connection at
battery and frame.
Check for open fuse or circuit
breaker supplying AC outlet.

On a severely discharged battery,
use the
40A Boost mode for

crank time may be less than 5
seconds.
The thermal protector may have
tripped and needs a little longer
to reset. Make sure the charger
vents are not blocked. Wait and
try again.
