WARNING:
Failure to follow these warnings and the instructions could result in death or serious injury.
Read these warnings and the instructions carefully before installing and using this device.
• Adult installation required. Keep small parts away from children during installation.
• Properly store any extra or unused components out of reach of children.
• This device is intended to restrict access by young children to the contents of a cabinet or drawer, but some children
may still be able to defeat it.
• Replace the device if it becomes damaged or broken or fails to function properly.
Installation
Step 1:
Pre-determine the location. Prior to installation, examine the insides of all drawers and
cabinets where magnetic locks will be installed. You may need to remove contents to
create room. Be sure that you select a common location away from any screws or
seams in the drawer box or inside the cabinet. In addition, select a location that is in
close proximity to knob or handle to create a one handed unlock & open operation.
Prior to installation, test magnetic latch with magnetic key to ensure that the latch
functions properly. The lever on the latch body should move freely, if not, enable lever
on latch body by lifting up firmly on the lever so it moves freely (Figure 1).
Note: The magnetic lock may not work if the drawer is too thick.
Insert latch body into latch alignment tool (Figure 2). Be sure lever on the latch body is
Step 2:
facing up. Remove the adhesive backing on the alignment tool and latch body. Adhere
to the pre-determined location inside the top of the drawer or cabinet that was
determined in step 1 (Figure 3).
Shut the drawer or cabinet so the latch body will align and transfer to the inside of the
Step 3:
drawer or cabinet. Open drawer or cabinet to verify adhesive on latch body has stuck
to the inside of the drawer or cabinet. Note: Do not apply pressure to the latch body at
this time as you may need to adjust positioning in later steps.
Step 4:
Mark with a pencil the location of the alignment tool on the inside top of the
drawer/cabinet (Figure 5). Once location is marked remove the alignment tool (keep
alignment tool to reuse for other installations). Remove backing from the adhesive on
the catch, and place it so the adhesive will secure to the inside top of the
drawer/cabinet with the angled ridged edge facing out (Figure 6). Press up to secure.
Note: Do not install catch with the rectangular cut out facing outwards (Figure 7).
Test the latch by closing drawer or cabinet and use the magnetic key to gain access. If
the latch body does not engage the catch, adjust the latch body up or down until latch
engages.
Step 5:
Once proper alignment is established, apply pressure to secure the latch body in place.
For best results allow 24 hours for adhesive to set prior to use. For additional safety we
recommend securing the latch body and catch with the screws provided using a #1
Phillips head screwdriver. Note: For better access during screw installation it may be
helpful to remove drawers.
Step 6:
(Optional) Place training stickers on the outside of drawers and cabinets so they align
with the latch body. This will help train you or your guests on where to place magnetic
key to gain access.
Step 7:
Magnetic key comes with a key holder for easy storage. Determine a convenient location
where you would like to store the key out of reach of children. Remove adhesive backing
and secure key holder in place. To store key, insert key into key holder and rotate
clockwise until secure.
Note: The magnetic key is a very strong magnet, do not store near cell phones,
computers or credit cards etc.
