Determine the location of the mantel and mark the location on the wall for the
other mounting bracket (a) holes. Using a drill or screwdriver, make holes in
the wall where marked. If you are attaching to drywall or plaster, insert a wall
anchor (d) into each hole in the wall. Position the mounting bracket (a) over
the holes in the wall and use the 1-3/8 in. screws (b) to securely attach the
mounting bracket (a) to the wall.

Place the mantel so the mounting bracket (a) on the back edge is in alignment
with the mounting bracket (a) on the wall. Place an end of the nylon strap (c)
down through each mounting bracket (a). Bring both ends together and slide
the end of the nylon strap (c) through the slot in the other end until snug. Pull
down on the end until it snap locks into the slot. Check to ensure the nylon
strap (c) is securely laced and locked to the mounting brackets (a).

Insert the shelf mounts (f) into the holes on the inside of the storage compartments.
Place shelves (h) on the shelf mounts (f). Make sure the shelves are level.
