Avoid pumping vapours that could condense to liquid during compression in the vacuum pump.
If the pump is used properly and the instructions in this operating manual are followed, the vacuum pump
will operate safely.
5
Installation
The protective caps at the vacuum connection and at the exhaust connection have to be removed prior to startup.
The vacuum pump must not under any circumstances be operated with a closed discharge air duct.
Installation and startup may be carried out only by personnel that have been trained
in handling oxygen conducting systems.
Valid here is the "Die deutsche Unfallverhütungsvorschrift", BGR500, Chapter 2.32 (for-
merly BGV B7).
At delivery, there is already oil in the vacuum pump.
Parts that are contaminated by third-party oils must be disassembled and cleaned with a
special cleaner.
Otherwise there is a risk of mechanical damage to the device.

Operation
6.1 Startup
Make sure that the intake line is connected and that there is oil in the oil tank.
When the vacuum pump is started up after an extended standstill (cold start), higher noise levels might
occur for the first few minutes. This is caused by air in the oil circuit and a high oil viscosity combined with
a low oil temperature, among other factors. The noise does not negatively affect the operational reliability
of the vacuum pump.
6.2 Operation modes
The pump must not be switched on and off more than 10 times per hour. During process interruptions, it is
preferable to run the vacuum pump with the inlet closed. When the vacuum pump is operated at ultimate
pressure, its power consumption is minimal. The operational reliability is guaranteed generally at all per-
missible operating points.
