Mikrophone muting
The microphone is automatically muted, once the USB adapter is connected to the PC and the
headset adapter is turned on. This is to prevent accidental transmission of conversations to the
PC via the microphone.
Microphone input is enabled only when the rocker key (9) is pressed for about 1 second.
The LED lights up or flashes in orange (instead of green) during audio transmission from micro-
phone to PC.
You can disable the microphone input by pressing the rocker key (9) once again for about 1
second. The LED again changes its colour from orange to green.
Tips & Notes
• USB does not function when DOS or Windows are in safe mode (or only restricted to USB key-
board/mouse). Thus, the product cannot be used in this case.
• Select the correct sound card from the control panel, if necessary (internal sound card or
onboard sound on the motherboard or the USB headset adapter).
The USB adapter functions like a second sound card.
After connecting the USB adapter to the computer, it normally activates automatically and it is
ready for use.
• It may be possible that the microphone input has to be activated first. To do this in Windows
XP, go to the control panel (control panel > sounds and audio devices > volume, then in the
field "hardware volume" click on "upgrade" The volume adjustment appears (it is necessary
activate it via the volume symbol in the menu bar). Click on "Options", "Properties" and
"Recording".
Check if a tick is placed besides "Microphone" and click on "OK". You can now mark "Select"
next to the microphone entry and adjust the microphone volume or the volume of the recor-
ding.
With the sound recorder integrated in Windows, you can test the sound recording, adjust the
microphone recording level or check if the system settings are correct.
The procedure is quite similar with Windows Vista or Windows 7.
• If an audio signal is recognised at the microphone connection, the LED is orange; it is green
during playback of an audio signal.
• The range between the USB adapter and headset adapter is a maximum of ca10 m in direct
line of sight.
The range can be decreased considerably by other devices operating in the 2.4 GHz band
(WLAN, Bluetooth®, other wireless transmission systems).
A decrease in the range can also be expected as a result of walls, metal parts or the vicinity to
electric cables or other devices.
You should use a USB port on the front of your computer for the connection.
Depending on the orientation of the USB adapter and headset adapter, the metal
casing could be between the USB adapter and the headset adapter, which may
decrease the range achievable.
If your computer does not have a USB port on the front, use a USB extension cable
or use a USB port on a USB hub to connect the USB adapter.
Disposal

Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with this symbol to indi-
cate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden.
The symbols for dangerous heavy metal constituents are: Cd=cadmium,
Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (name on battery/rechargeable battery, e.g. under the trash
icon on the left).
You can return used (rechargeable) batteries free of charge at the official collection points in your
municipality, our stores, or where ever (rechargeable) batteries are sold!
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
