IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read prior to installation.
Failure to comply with these instructions will invalidate
any warranty or obligation from Gripple Limited, its associates or affiliated companies.
1. The maximum TENSION to be applied to the catenary wire, prior to any suspended load being
applied, MUST NOT exceed the following:
a. 6 mm wire rope: 100 kg (220 lb). The tension may be applied by hand, and supplemented if
necessary, with the use of a 100 kg rated Gripple tensioning tool. DO NOT exceed 100 kgf of
tension load.
b. 3 mm wire rope: 30 kg (66 lb). The load must only be applied by hand.
NEVER use a tensioning tool to tension a 3 mm catenary wire.
2. Only apply tension to the wire BEFORE the 1/4 turn lock is engaged in the 6mm (1/4") D6 Gripple.
3. NEVER use the tensioning tool in an attempt to tension the wire once the 1/4 turn
lock has been engaged. If further tension needs to be applied, the 1/4 turn lock MUST be released
before any additional tension is applied.
4. NEVER attempt to re-tension, raise or straighten a catenary wire whilst it is supporting any load. Any
load MUST be removed prior to any adjustment of the catenary wire.
5. The 1/4 turn lock MUST always be fully engaged AFTER tensioning has been completed.
6. A catenary wire should ALWAYS display an element of sag (S). This is NORMAL and MUST NOT be
pulled out by over-tensioning the wire rope. Over tensioning a catenary cable can place
unnecessary stresses on the building structure.
7. ALWAYS ensure the anchor points are structurally sound, free from sharp edges and capable of
withstanding the tension generated by the cable once the load is applied, without the possibility of
losing integrity.

ALWAYS attach the ends of the catenary wire to the anchor points at each end, by forming a
continuous loop configuration of the wire rope through the Gripple fastener.

When installing the loop, always ensure the tail wire is on the underside of the installation to allow
easy access for tensioning. This tail wire must be longer than 10 cm.
10.
ENSURE that the internal inclusive angle of the wire inside the loop NEVER exceeds 40º. The final
position of the Gripple fastener should be at a minimum distance from the anchorage equivalent to
1½ times the height of the beam around which it is fastened.
11. NEVER use any Gripple fastener as a splice to join together two different pieces of wire rope.

1. La tension maximale à appliquer sur le CTI, avant de suspendre une charge, ne doit pas dépasser :
a. CTI 6 :
100 kg. La tension peut être appliquée à la main, et complétée si nécessaire, avec
l'utilisation de la pince de tension. Ne pas régler cette pince à plus de 100 kg de charge
de tension.
b. CTI 3 : 30 kg. La tension doit être appliquée à la main.
NE JAMAIS utiliser la pince de tension sur le câble de diamètre 3 mm.
2. Appliquer une tension dans le câble avant installation du verrouillage quart de tour pour le CTI6.
3. NE JAMAIS utiliser la pince de tension une fois que le verrouillage quart de tour ait été fermé.
Si davantage de tension doit être appliquée, le quart de tour doit être déverrouillé.

NE JAMAIS tenter de retendre, d'augmenter ou de réduire la flèche d'un CTI si une charge est
suspendue sur le CTI. Toute charge doit être enlevée avant tout ajustement du CTI.

Le quart de tour doit toujours être pleinement engagées APRÈS AVOIR installé le CTI et avant de
suspendre une charge sur ce CTI.

Un CTI doit toujours être installé avec une flèche (S). Ceci est NORMAL, ne JAMAIS tenter de
supprimer cette flèche en retendant le CTI. Une tension trop importante dans le câble implique un
stress supplémentaire sur la structure du bâtiment et sur le CTI.
7. TOUJOURS s'assurer que les points d'ancrage sont structurellement sains (exempts de surface
coupante) et capables de résister à la tension générée par le câble une fois que la charge est
appliquée.
8. TOUJOURS fixer les extrémités du CTI aux points d'ancrage en formant une boucle continue du
câble à travers chaque galet.
9. Lors de l'installation de la boucle, assurez-vous toujours que le bout libre soit en dessous de
l'installation pour permettre un accès facile pour la tension. Ce bout libre doit avoir une longueur
minimum de 10 cm.

S'assurer que l'angle formé par la boucle ne soit JAMAIS supérieur à 40 °. La position finale du
galet doit être à une distance minimale de 1,5 fois la hauteur de la poutre autour de laquelle il
est fixé.
11. NE JAMAIS utiliser le galet pour rabouter deux câbles entre eux.
