In-Line Railing Installation Instructions, continued
Step 7: Place baluster connectors in position on both rails using
the pre-drilled holes and attach with #10 x 2" SS pan head screws.
Make sure the alignment pins on the bottom of the baluster
connector are installed in the same hole of every set, to ensure
the baluster connectors are lined up with each other on the top
and bottom rails (fig.5).
Step 8: Find the center of the underside of the bottom rail and
attach one baluster connector for the crush block with a #10 x 2"
SS pan head screw. Check building code requirements for the
maximum spacing between deck surface and bottom of rail
(sweep); 3" is typical, but can be more or less if codes allow. Cut
the crush block to the determined height (fig. 6).
Note: Make sure post base trim is installed prior to installing the
bottom rail.
Step 9: Place the rail trim and in-line brackets on the ends of
the bottom rail. Install the crush block and prop the bottom rail
between the posts using blocks cut to size. Check the rail for level.
Using the in-line bracket as a guide, mark the screw positions on
both ends. Pre-drill 3/16" pilot holes through the post sleeve only
and attach the in-line brackets with #10 x 2-1/2" SS flat head
screws (fig. 7).
Luster Railing is not suitable for structural use. It should not be used for primary
load-bearing members such as posts, joists, beams or stringers. The same common-
sense precautions should be taken when handling Luster Railing as with wood or other
building materials. Dust masks and eye protection devices are recommended to avoid
possible irritation from sawdust and chips. Gloves will help to protect the hands. Hands
should be washed after doing construction work. Do not burn Luster Railing. Dispose
of Luster Railing with normal construction debris.

Step 10: Place a baluster over each baluster connector on the
bottom rail. Make sure baluster is fully seated in connector. Gently
tap with a rubber mallet, if needed.
Step 11: Place the rail trim and in-line brackets on the ends of
the top rail. Position the top rail into position, sliding the balusters
over the baluster connectors, while working from one end to the
other. Check the rail for level. Using the in-line bracket a s a
guide, mark the screw positions on both ends. Pre-drill 3/16"
pilot holes through the post sleeve only and attach the in-line
brackets with #10 x 2-1/2" SS flat head screws (fig. 8).
Step 12: Apply a PVC adhesive to the inside of the rail trim, where
it will contact the in-line bracket, and snap into place.
Step 13: Apply a PVC adhesive to the inside rim of a post cap and

place firmly on the post.
