Important Information
Big Scale Servo "689"
Item No.: 20 51 08
Dear customer!
Do you want to use this servo as spare servo in a car model of the Carbon
Fighter series?
If yes, please observe the following notes contained in this information
sheet.
Defective servos are caused, among others, by stiff steering mechanisms or
mechanics (e.g. by dirt or corrosion) as well as by unsymmetrical and thus non-linear,
geometrical steering configurations.
Thus, you should check the following items and, if necessary, take appropriate
corrective measures before resuming driving operation of your model.
With these measures you ensure a more powerful control of the steering mechanism,
which is faster under load and particularly balanced to the left and right.
1. Inspection of steering geometry
The two rectangular steering arms ("A" and "A'") must be aligned so that they are
exactly parallel and in a 90° angle with line "B". Line "B" is exactly 90° (transverse)
to the direction of travel.
If the front wheels are not exactly neutral (straight) after correcting the steering arms,
you must adjust the neutral position of the wheels (wheel track) with the track rod "C".
The servo drive lever "D" of the steering servo must be aligned so that it is in a 90°
angle to the servo housing when adjusting the neutral position of the steering
mechanism at the sender (set trim to "0", as well).
If necessary, demount the servo drive lever "D" and attach it again with an offset.
Small deviations can be adjusted with the trim at the sender.
When the steering arms and the servo drive lever are correctly adjusted as described
above, the control rod "E" may have to be adjusted so that the wheels are aligned back
in the direction of straight travel.
2. Mounting of the steering rod at the servo drive lever
Version 06/10
Remove the screw "A" from the ball coupling "B" and screw the ball coupling to the
servo drive lever in the second hole from the inside (position "C").
Before remounting the steering linkage, make sure that the steering mechanism can
easily be moved. Clean or grease, if necessary.
After the corrections, you should adjust the servo path of the steering mechanism at
the sender. You can find further information in the operating instruction of the remote
control.
When making adjustments, make sure that the servo does not reach the hard stop!
Kind regards,
Your REELY team
