If we examine the table, we can see that by adding carbon dioxide the pH value decreases. On
this subject, we remind you, that nearly all species of flora and fauna prefer a pH value between
6.5 and 7.0, a temporary hardness, kH, between 2 and 5 degrees and a total hardness, GH,
between 7 and 12 degrees. This means that we would have a value for dissolved carbon dioxide
of between 10 and 40 mg/litre.
To keep the biochemical values of the aquarium stable, it is recommended to add the carbon
dioxide regularly and to make this operation accurate, you need the
EASY CO2
SYSTEM.
The use of a 500 g disposable gas bottle is practical and fast. No instrument is needed to replace
the gas bottle. Besides, it assures the system to operate perfectly for 3 to 8 months. Obviously,
this varies according to the litres and the quantity of CO2 fed in.
The supply of the carbon dioxide is controlled by a highly sensitive pressure reducer, where a
gauge is fitted to check the working pressure in the system.
The atomiser consists of a special porous device cast in a glass bell, where you can count the
bubbles of carbon dioxide for the calibration, thus ensuring a perfect distribution into the aquarium.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY
Open the pack and check that everything is present, see Photo 1.
Before inserting the pressure reducer into the gas bottle, turn the pressure regulator (A) anti-
clockwise and the regulator (B) clockwise. These must be moved to the limit stop, see Photo 2.
Screw the reducer into the gas bottle, and ensure that there is no leak of carbon dioxide. To make
this operation easier, you can use a bit of soap and water. See Photo 3.
Put about 1 cm of water into the atomiser. To do this, just immerse it in a bowl, shaking it. See
Photo 4.
Place the gas bottle vertical, in the dry, away from any sources of heat and out of the reach of
children, measure the pipe and insert it into the two rubber connectors: pressure reducer and
atomiser, then place it in position in the aquarium. Attention: Only use the high-pressure pipe
supplied, see Photo 5.
Open the pressure regulator (A) from 0.5 to 1 bar. Open the regulator (B) and count the bubbles in
the atomiser until you reach the requested quantity, see Photo 6.
By checking the pH and kH values, you can calculate an indirect measurement for the value of the
carbon dioxide content in mg/litre (see table). Adjust the setting of carbon dioxide so as to stabilise
the pH value and the carbon dioxide content dissolved in the aquarium.
After a few weeks, you can see the first results obtained with the
EASY CO2
SYSTEM.
You will be pleased to notice that, by using this system, the value of the pH and the carbon dioxide
have stabilised. In any case, remember that carbon dioxide is only one element necessary for the
growth of plants, but it is not enough alone. So we recommend enriching the water with
NUTRONFLORA, NUTRONFERRO
and
BIOTRIX
BLACKWATER.
MAINTENANCE
The
EASY CO2 SYSTEM
is maintenance free, except for replacing the gas bottle and cleaning the
porous device of the atomiser, which can be done with a normal toothbrush. The porous device is
designed to last about a year, but this could vary according to the use and working conditions.
SPARE PARTS
