Intended use
The car subwoofer RAVELAND is intended for the conversion of electrical signals outputted from car amp-
lifiers into audible sound waves.
The loudspeaker connection may only be used on loudspeaker outputs of such devices.
They may only be used inside a car or closed rooms but not outdoors. Do not expose to moisture, under
any circumstances.
For safety and approval reasons, you may not convert and/or alter the product. If you use the product for
purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. Furthermore, improper use may
cause hazards such as short-circuits, fire, etc. Please read the operating instructions carefully and do not dis-
card them. If you pass the product on to a third party, please hand over these operating instructions as well.

Safety Instructions
Please read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention to the safety
instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material damages resulting from fai-
lure to observe the safety instructions and the information in these operating instructions
regarding the proper handling of the product. Furthermore, in such cases, the warranty/
guarantee will be null and void.
• The product is not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave the packaging materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything for
children.
• Do not store any magnetic storage media such as e.g. floppy disks, video tapes etc. in the
proximity of the subwoofer as the magnetic field of the speaker might destroy the information
stored on the storage media.
• Do not listen to excessively loud music for long periods of time. This may damage your hea-
ring.
• If the volume inside your car is too high, you will not hear acoustic warning signals. This
constitutes a danger to yourself and to other road users. Therefore, ensure the volume is at
a suitable level.
• Inattentiveness on the road might involve serious accidents.
• Therefore, only use the hi-fi system when the traffic situation permits and you will not be
unduly distracted by operating the system.
• Never pour fluids above electrical devices. Do not place any containers with liquids, such as
buckets, vases or plants, on or in the immediate proximity of the product.
• Do not place open flames, such as burning candles, on or near the device.
• Use the device only in temperate climate regions and not in tropical ones.
• Protect the product from direct sunlight, strong vibrations and combustible gases, vapours
and solvents.
• Never expose the product to high mechanical load.
• If safe operation is no longer possible, take the device out of service and secure it against
unintended use. Safe operation is no longer possible, if the product:
- has visible damage,
- no longer functions properly,
- has been stored under adverse ambient conditions for an extended period of time or
- has been exposed to considerable strain during transport.
• Please handle the product carefully. The product can be damaged if crushed, struck or drop-
ped, even from a low height.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices that are connected
to this product.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely connect it,
consult a trained technician.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair work may be carried out only by an expert or a specialist
workshop.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions, please con-
tact our technical customer service or another specialist.
Assembly
Modifications to the vehicle which are made necessary through the installation of the subwoofer
or other components must always be carried out in such a manner that neither the traffic safety
nor the designed stability of the car is impaired. Cutting out a section of the sheet metal will
already void the MOT for many vehicles.
If you are in doubt when selecting a place for installation, consult your vehicle dealer.
Before drilling, make sure that this will not damage any electric cables, brake leads, the fuel tank
or suchlike.
When using tools to install your car's hi-fi components, follow the manufacturer's safety instruc-
tions.
When installing the subwoofer or your hi-fi system, please take into account the risk of injury that
can arise from devices being torn away in the event of an accident. Therefore, you should secure
each component in a place where it will not pose any risk to passengers.
• Look for a suitable installation site for the subwoofer.
• Attach the subwoofer using enclosed assembly materials or similar fixtures. This fastening must be also
able to bear the load of the subwoofer in case of an accident.
• The boot is a suitable place for installation.
Connection
When connecting the subwoofer, make sure that the connection cables are not pinched or da-
maged by sharp edges.
The loudspeakers may only be connected to suitable car amplifier loudspeaker outputs.
Make sure the impedance and power rating indicated in the technical data complies with the
data for the amplifier connected. Otherwise, damage to the subwoofer or the amplifier can occur.
In order to ensure clear playback, you must operate the subwoofer via an amplifier with an active switch,
which ensures:
- that there is sufficient output
- that the speaker is only supplied with the deep bass range of the music signals.
• Depending on the vehicle, set the crossover frequency for the active switch to between 80 and 120 Hz.
• Connect the loudspeaker leads from the audio amplifier to the loudspeaker connection terminal on the
subwoofer:
Red connection
positive loudspeaker connection
Black connection
negative loudspeaker connection
Maintenance and Cleaning
• Absolutely prevent wetness or dampness from penetrating into the device.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these could da-
mage the housing or even impair operation.
• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product. If the device is very dirty, use a cloth slightly moistened with
lukewarm tap water.
• Carpet surface can be also cleaned with a standard vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the household
waste.
Dispose of the unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
