2 Safety Notes
The thermometer corresponds to the
directive for electromagnetic compatibil-
ity 89/336/EEC.
The thermometer is neither suitable for
medical applications nor for measure-
ments in microwave ovens!
The supplied temperature sensors
must only be used for measurements
up to max. 260 °C (500 °F).
Protect the thermometer against hu-
midity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature range 0 – 50 °C).
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth,
by no means chemicals or water.
If the digital thermometer is used for
other purposes than originally in-
tended, if it is not operated in the cor-
rect way or not repaired by authorized
14
for switching on and off the
personnel, no liability for any damage
will be accepted.
If the thermometer is to be put out of
operation permanently, take it to a
local recycling plant for disposal.
3 Applications
The digital thermometer DTM-506RS
serves for temperature measurements
on objects. With the supplied tempera-
ture sensors (K-type), temperatures up to
+260 °C (+500 °F) can be measured. For
high-precision measurements, sensors
for professional applications are recom-
mended (e. g. DTP-3 by MONACOR).
The types K, J, T, E, R, S, and N can be
used (see specifications on page 21).
By means of the supplied interface
cable, the thermometer can be connect-
ed to a computer with RS-232 interface.
The supplied software for Windows 3.x
and Windows 95
temperature curves.
4 Setting into Operation
1) Connect the temperature sensors to
the jacks T1 and T2 (1).
2) To obtain a good reading position, un-
fold the set-up bracket at the rear
side of the protective rubber frame.
3) Switch on the thermometer with the
button
(3).
4) A display (2) appears. If it does not
appear, insert a 9 V battery. If the
symbol
appears, replace the bat-
tery – see chapter 6 "Replacing the
Battery".
5) After operation, always switch off the
thermometer with the button
"Record" mode has been activated
with the button "MIN/MAX" (10), the
thermometer cannot be switched off.
First keep the button "MIN/MAX"
pressed until "RECORD" is extin-
guished on the display. It is not pos-
sible to switch off until then.
The thermometer also switches off
automatically if it has not been used
for approx. 30 minutes (except for the
"Record" mode). Upon short actu-
