Important notes
• The performance of the solar panel depends on the season and the period and power of the
sunlight received. During extended periods of weather without sufficient sunlight (especially
in winter), it is possible that the rechargeable battery's charge state is sufficient to light the
product for a brief time only. This is because the rechargeable battery charges less energy
during the day than the lights use at night, which inevitably shortens light "ON" time. This can
discharge the rechargeable battery completely over time and thus damage it. For this reason,
remove the rechargeable from the product in good time.
• Keep the solar panel clean. Dust and dirt reduce the performance of the solar panel due to
reduced charging current for the battery.
• Cold temperatures adversely affect the lifetime of the battery (reduced illumination time of
the LED at night). In order to ensure long, error-free operation, we recommend storing the
product at a dry, warm location during winter (or when not using the product for a longer
period of time). To do so, remove the rechargeable battery from the product.
• You may remove the rechargeable battery before storing the product and charge it with a
suitable charger. Observe all relevant information provided in these operating instructions
regarding removing or replacing the rechargeable battery.

Removing/inserting the rechargeable battery

Replace the rechargeable battery, once the illumination time reduces significantly
despite the battery being sufficiently charged during daytime.
When replacing the battery, make sure no moisture enters the inside of the lamp
head.
• Turn the solar panel unit counter clockwise to remove it.
• Loosen the 2 screws on the bottom of the solar panel unit using a Philips screwdriver.
• Remove the battery mount. Exercise extreme caution to prevent damage to the cable
connections.
• Remove the rechargeable battery and replace it with an identical one (see Technical Data).
Heed correct polarity.
Never use a normal, non-rechargeable battery.
• Reverse these steps to reassemble the product.

Cleaning and care

• Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as such would damage the
housing (discolorations).
• Never point a water jet, for example such of high-pressure cleaning equipment, at the lamp,
as that could damage the seals!
• Besides occasional cleaning, the device is maintenance-free.
• Let the product cool down sufficiently before cleaning.
• Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the housing. For more stubborn dirt, slightly moisten
the cloth with a little lukewarm water.
• Do not apply too much force to the housing in order to avoid scratching.
• If necessary, remove any dust from the solar panel, as the charging current could otherwise
decrease.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance
with applicable regulatory guidelines.
Remove the rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately from the product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
(rechargeable) batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated (rechargeable) batteries are labeled with this symbol to indicate that
disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals
involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on (rechargeable)
batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality, our
stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
