– ... the measurement results deviate strongly from the data
provided by the manufacturer?
The following procedure is recommended:
– Check the selected curing program, i.e. check if the correct
diameter of the light probe is set or the milliwatt program is
selected.
– Clean the sensor of the Bluephase Meter II (see Maintenance
and Cleaning).
– Clean the light probe with a disinfectant and a soft cloth.
Carefully remove any possible material residue, such as
composite material, from the light probe with a fingernail or a
plastic spatula, for instance. Do not use sharp or pointed
instruments, as they may scratch the surface of the light probe
and thus reduce light transmission.
– Check the light probe for damage. If certain segments appear
black once the light probe is removed from the handpiece and
held against a light source, then the glass fibres are broken.
Due to the reduced light transmission, the light probe has to be
replaced with a new one.
If these measures do not improve the results, the curing times
have to be prolonged in order to achieve sufficient polymeri-
zation. The following guideline applies:
If the light intensity is reduced by half, the curing time has to be
doubled (e.g. the measured light intensity is 500 mW/cm
the data stipulated by the manufacturer is 1,000 mW/cm
10 seconds of curing time; in this case, the curing time has to be
doubled to 20 seconds).

A low residual capacity of the battery is signalled with a blinking
battery symbol on the display. The batteries have to be replaced
as soon as possible.
– ... the display does not show anything?
– Check or replace the batteries.
– If the display does not show anything even when exposed to
the light of a polymerization device, send the
Bluephase Meter II to a certified Ivoclar Vivadent Service Center
for repair.
Change of batteries
Batteries are consumables and must be replaced regularly.
For this purpose, remove the cover of the battery case at the
rear of the unit and replace the batteries. Subsequently,
remount the cover of the battery case. Dispose of
unserviceable batteries according to the national rules and
regulations.
