Broiling advices
While smoking is an inherent characteristic of good broiling, the
following tips should eliminate or greatly reduce smoking :
- Do not cover the oven rack with foil. This prevents fats and oils
from draining, causing spatter and smoking, and also restricts air
circulation for proper ventilation.
- Place a container of water into the oven to prevent from smoking.
- For best results, thaw frozen meats before broiling.
- Trim excess fat from meat.
- If grease "pops" during broiling, set the thermostat on a lower position.
- Clean the oven pan after each use. Too much grease
accumulation causes smoking.
