C - Safety and usage information
It is essential to comply with all local and national regulations, as well as EC standards, when
using the Diagofocus barbecue.
• Care should be taken when the barbecue is in use as certain parts, particularly the external
surfaces, become hot.
• The Diagofocus is designed exclusively for outdoor use.
• The recommended fuel for the barbecue is refined charcoal (with high carbon content) that
complies with EC standard EN 1860-2.
• Do not use the barbecue in strong winds. Do not pour water over hot coals to extinguish
them, due to the risk of being burned by steam and of damaging the appliance by the sudden
temperature change.
• The notches on either side of the barbecue allow three positions for the grill height.
• The different levels for the grill allow for flexibility in cooking temperatures. The highest level
is used mainly to keep food hot.
• It is advisable to leave a small amount of ash at the bottom of the barbecue in order to
minimise direct contact between the charcoal and the appliance itself.
• As charcoal can easily absorb moisture and burn badly as a consequence, it should always
be stored in a dry location.
•The barbecue is not designed to withstand prolonged bad weather (snow, hail, heavy rain)
or to be kept outdoors unprotected for long periods. It is recommended to store the barbecue
in a sheltered place when it is not in use, in case it is not protected by a cover. Before it is put
away, ensure the embers are completely extinguished and the appliance is cold.
• Do not touch the barbecue without the protection of heat-resistant oven gloves. Do not try
to put it away when the embers are not completely extinguished or when the barbecue is
still lit.
• It is possible to use a hand bellows to aid in lighting the charcoal.
• The Diagofocus should not be used as an incinerator. Burning waste (plastic, cardboard,
crates and so on) could lead to thermal shock, damaging the appliance. Furthermore, the
constituents of waste are often pollutants.
• When the ashes are completely cold, they can be emptied out by removing the ash tray
using its handle.
• It is prohibited to modify the appliance in any way. Only spare parts supplied by the manu-
facturer are authorised.
