LANCING DEVICE
Instructions for Use
The GlucoPlus™ FastTouch® Adjustable Lancing Device provides an
easy, safe way to obtain capillary blood samples needed for blood
glucose monitoring. The adjustable tip on the Lancing Device allows
you to choose the best depth of skin penetration. To obtain a drop
of blood, first wash your hands with warm, soapy water. Dry your
hands thoroughly before using the Lancing Device.
1.
Remove
the
depth
adjustment cap. Insert a
lancet into the lancet holder
and push down until it is
fully seated.
2.
Twist
off
the
lancet's
protective disk. Make two
full turns to ensure that the
lancet seperates from the
protective disk.
3.
Replace the Lancing Device
cap and set the puncture
depth to the desired number.
There are 5 levels of skin
penetration offered. To select
a desired depth, move the
number to match the arrow.
To select the best depth:
1-2 for soft or thin skin
3
for average skin
4-5 for thick or calloused skin
4.
Pull
back
the
cocking
mechanism until it makes a
click, and then release. If it
does not click, the device
may have been cocked
when
the
lancet
inserted.
5.
Release the sleeve. It will
automatically move back to
its original position near the
trigger and lift up the
device.
6.
Position the end of the
Lancing Device against the
tip of the finger. Press the
trigger button, and lift up
the Lancing Device away
from the finger after the
puncture is complete.
7.
Set aside the Lancing Device and wait a few seconds for a
blood drop to form. The flow of blood will be helped by
keeping the hand warm, by lowering the hand to waist level,
and by gentle masage of the finger.
8.
For safety reasons, and to prevent cross-contamination, discard
the used lancet into an appropriate sharps or biohazard
container. Never allow another person to use a lancet that has
already been used. If the Lancing Device is to be used by
another person, the unit must be provided with a new tip and
sterile lancet.
9.
Lancet removal: Unscrew the Lancing Device tip. Carefully stick
the protective disk cover back on the used lancet. Grip the
holder firmly and pull the lancet safely out of the holder. Screw
the tip back in the Lacing Device.
Taking care of your Lancing Device
Use alcohol or soap and water to wipe the outside of the Lancing
Device. For more complete cleaning, remove the tip, wash it in
warm water and rinse well. It can be disinfected with 70% rubbing
alcohol. (Hospitals should consult their own infection control
protocol.)
Limited Warranty
GlucoPlus warrants that the Lancing Device will function effectively
for a period of five (5) years from date of purchase. A
