Safety instructions
This device is to be installed only by a professional electrician
fi tter according to local applicable installation standards.
Do not plug in or unplug this product when it is live.
Its use is only permitted within the limits shown and stated in
the installation instructions. The device and the equipement
connected to can be destroyed by loads exceeding the
values stated.
Operating principle
This kilowatt hour meter measures the active electrical
energy used in an electrical nstallation.
This device has a digital LCD to display energy used and
power.
The design and manufacture of this meter comply with
Standard EN50470-3 requirements.

C «Prog» key to set up the CT ratio and the type of network.
D Metrological LED (0,1 Wh/impulse).
M-BUS Communication
M-BUS MEDIA
In a standard configuration, an M-BUS connection can be
used to link up to 250* products with a PC or PLC, over a
range of 1000 metres**.
* depending on the M-BUS master
** depending on the number of products and the
communication speed.
Recommendations:
The use of a JYSTY Nx2x0.8 mm (0.5 mm²) unshielded
twisted pair is recommended.
If the range of 1000 m and/or the limit of 250 products
are exceeded, a repeater will need to be connected.
-> f the 250 limit is exceeded: only use the secondary
address.
M-BUS protocol
The M-BUS protocol operates using a master/slave
structure.
EC379M (slave) units are compatible with both primary
and secondary addressing modes.
Primary addressing can be
configured via the product
interface.
Secondary addressing uses
a fixed, unique address
shown on the front face of
MBUS Address:
the product ( A ).

In installations set as "unbalanced", install one CT per

M-BUS EC379M units also have the «Wildcard addressing»
function which allows products to be searched for on the
M-BUS network.
Option to broadcast to addresses 254 and 255.
In addition, M-BUS product units are OMScompatible (Open
Metering Systems).

ENSURING MID-COMPLIANT USE

The EC379M only complies with the MID directive for
connection to systems:

> Fitting of terminal covers (fig.1 below)
Ensure that after connecting the product, the terminal
covers are correctly fitted and secured by the 2 plastic seals
supplied with the product.

> Locking the programming key make sure the key cover is
closed by securing it with a seal (fig.2 below).
> Events counter
After final programming of the meter, make sure that event
counters C1 and C2 are read.
C1: number of changes made to CT ratio
C2: number of changes made to system type.
• M-BUS communication
Information sent via M-BUS COM is sent for information only
and has no legal value.
• Using 1 or 2 CT reduces accuracy by 0.5% for the phase
whose current is deduced by vector calculation.

Meter setup
The following settings have to be made before the meter
can be put to use:
- CT ratio.
- Type of network (single or three-phase).
- Type of three-phase installation (balanced or unbalanced).
1. Press the Prog key during 3 sec. to enter the set-up mode.
2. The CT ratio setting is displayed (100A). Press the key
«Read» repeatedly to scroll the possible CT values (50, 100,
150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 600, 800... 3000A).
3. Press «Prog» to confirm and switch to the next setting.

4. The type of network (1L+N, 2L, 3L, 3L+N) is displayed.
Press the key «Read» repeatedly to scroll the possible
values and select the type of network.
5. Press «Prog» to confirm and switch to the next setting.
6. On three-phase installations, the type of installation is
Repeater
displayed as «Balanced/Unbalanced» (Bl, Unbl).
Press the key «Read» to scroll the values and select the type
of installation.
7. Press «Prog» to confirm.
8. Press the Prog key during 3 sec. to exit the programming
mode.

The various datas can be scrolled
by pressing the Key «Read».
The Default display will indicate
power consumption according to
the current tariff.
The EC379M provides detailed
display
of
the
total/partial
consumptions according to tariff
(T1, T2, T3 ou T4) and in total (T).
Note: The information
the display indicates that the
corresponding phase (1,2,3) is
under voltage.
