DESCRIPTION
The product is made of oak ribs, held together
by iron rings. The wine barrel can be used as
a water barrel or be sawn in two and used as
plant pots. These are two ways of using it –
there are many more.
MAINTENANCE
CARE
Treat the wood with oil in the spring.
Do not use varnish or the equivalent,
this will prevent the wood from breathing. If
the product is used as a plant pot, the soil will
prevent the wood drying out.
STORAGE
Put a few blocks or stones under the wine
barrel, to form an air gap. This will
considerably prolong the life span of the
barrel.
Do not place the product in direct sunlight
if it does not contain water or soil to keep
the ribs moist.
Place the wine barrel outdoors or in a
humid environment, or water it regularly
to prevent it drying.
If the wine barrel is to be used as a water
225 l

barrel it should first be put outside for a
while, so that the oak ribs swell and the
product remains tight.
If it is not possible to store the barrel
outside or in a humid environment,
a small catch should be placed under the
metal ring, or alternatively the metal ring
screwed or nailed in place. Carefully tap
the catch with a wooden block and
hammer if the ring slides down.
FIG. 1
WARNING!
If the product is stored so that it becomes
very dry the ribs will shrink, and it will not
longer be tight. This can also cause the metal
rings to come loose.
