When configuring the product by its serial port, connect the cable to a
PC having a terminal emulator (Kermit, Windows™ Hyperterminal™, ATTY
provided on the CD-ROM, Minicom or CU under Linux, or equivalents).
5.
Connect the power pack
The power pack has provisions for many kinds of wall plugs depending on the
country. Use the adequate provided wall plug and mount it on the power
supply pack. Plug the power pack into a wall outlet, and plug the connector
into the jack connector near the serial port. Note that the product has no
ON/OFF switch. The product turns on automatically when power supply is
connected.
6.
Select operating mode
You can first configure the product using the serial port. For this push
the administration switch in the ON position.
Run your terminal emulator, configured for 2400 bauds, 8 bits, no parity, 1
stop, no flow control. When the product is powered on, a banner is displayed:
you can now use the CLI (Command Line Interpreter).
Type the command "set net ip XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" replacing the X's
-
with the desired address.
Type the command "set wlan", then answer the questions to match
-
your Wi-Fi environment.
Type the command "save" then switch back the administration switch to
-
the OFF position.
You can first configure by the Wi-Fi interface as well, using the Wi-Fi
parameters given below. Indeed the product is factory preset to ad-hoc
mode. In this mode an ordinary PC equipped with a Wi-Fi card suffices to
access the product, thus allowing administration through either TELNET or
the Web server.
Initial configuration through Wi-Fi is also possible from a PC connected by
Ethernet to an access point set to ad-hoc bridge mode with the Wi-Fi
parameters indicated below.
The default factory settings are:
Wi-Fi parameters: Bridge Ad-Hoc mode, SSID: acksys, mode 802.11b/g,
radio channel: 6, security: no security.
TCP/IP parameters: IP address:192.168.1.253, subnet mask:255.255.255.0
TELNET provides the same CLI as the serial port configuration, except that
you must initially type the command "login root". The factory password is
empty.
After configuring please remind to set the administration switch back to
the OFF position, if necessary.
